MAN O' MAN. WHAT DISCRIMINATION!
Good news folks, the NDP have suspended their ban on hiring white eng-
lish males and will have the same chance as aboriginals, women Franco-
phones and any other racial minorities for jobs in the government. Notice
they said suspend the ban, and do they dunk the public are dumbheads?
Sure, anybody can apply for a job, but whose application do you think they
will file under "G" for garbage when the time comes for the actual hiring? If
1 was a Francophone, women etc., l would resent the fact that I am not good
enough to get the job on my own. Sure 1 know in the past they have had a
herd time *cuing jobs, but does that justify the government reversing the
discrimination and reversing the backlash?
We are a strange nation. This country, whether some people like to admit
it or not, was carved out of the wilderness by white maks, and the next time
a REMEMBRANCE DAY parade goes by, checkout the white males. It is
fellows like these and their comrades who gave their lives, and that your
reading this paper in the safety of your homes.
I have a friend whose son always wanted to be a policeman. Some guys
Wanted to be hockey players, but he loved the police and the law. He en-
tered into the academy and studied and stud-
ied. He was in the, top three in his class. At
the end'of the exams (where there was about
fifty applicanu). he and the group were told
that they were only accepting and hiring four
people and two would be women regardless
of the women's position on the list of appli-
cants or exams. So my friend's son, even
though he was in the top three of fifty people
wanting the job, was told "tough luck", and
was paying the price for being a WHITE
ANGLO SAXON MALE in CANADA.

EXETER - Height isn't always a
requirement for a good basketball
player.
While Dwayne McNab may be
one of the shortest players on the
South Huron District High School
junior boys basketball team, he has
quickly become the leader.
Saturday night at the school's an-
nual Junior Invitational Basketball
Tournament, McNab scored 27
points to lift the host Panthers to a
50-35 win over Walkerton to take
the consolation title.
McNab hit five three -pointers in
the final game. In the 51-50 win
over Mitchell he launched six
three-point bombs and in the 67-25
loss to North Middlesex was good
on a pair of long rangers.
In the consolation final, the Pan-
thers trailed by a basket, 19-17 at
the half but reshuffled their defence
and were much tougher in the sec-
ond half.
"We pressured them. We played
man-to-man and they couldn't han-
dle it," said South Huron coach
Scot Russell.
While McNab led all scorers in
!this game with 27 points, Kevin
Ileierling and Gavin Poole each
netted eight points for the winners.
Poole and Rob Lynn; the Pan-
thers two big centers, usually aren't
on the court together but in the sec-
ond half, Russell decided to team
them up to help out on defence. Of-
fensively it helped as well.
"We pushed it in to Gavin and
Rob. They (Walkerton) were kind
of tired," said Russell.
Petrolia's Lambton Central won
the tournament on a forfeit as the
Woodstock Huron Park coach was
ejected from the game. With his
team trailing ,53-37 he was given
two techifical'fpi►ls wjic►i`meant an
ejection.
"The referee said if he didn't
leave the gym, it was going to be a
forfeit, and it was," explained Rus-
sell.
South Huron 51. Mitchell 50
The closest and perhaps most ex-
citing game of the weekend tourna-
ment came Saturday morning when
the Panthers bauled back from a 15
point deficit to beat the Blue Dev-
ils.
McNab was not guarded close
enough in the opening half as he hit
five -of -five from the other side of
the three-point line to help the hosts
to a 27-27 halftime tie.
The Blue Devils put a little more
pressure on the hot shooter in the
second half but McNab fed Luke
Sims with a nice pass who ripped
the mesh for two points. Sims had
seven points while Scots McDonald
added eight.
South Huron's shots just wouldn't
drop in the second half and they
were down 46-31 after three quar-
ters. But just eight seconds into the
fourth, McNab, who ended the
game with 22 points, hit his sixth
three -pointer.
Jason Maskell came off the bench
to add four crucial points late in the
game and the winning basket came
with 12 seconds leftin the game
when McNab stole the ball and
went in to lay one off the glass.
The Panthers outscored their op-
ponents 20-4 in the fourth quarter
which was nearly a reverse from
the 19-4 for the Blue Devils in the
third.

The Marauders' Richard Tammin-
ga totally dominated Friday after-
noon's opening game as he led the
winners with 26 points and helped
them build a 33-15 halftime lead.

winners while'IPlcNab ted the Pan-
thers scoring with 18.

Post Harvest spiel
EXETER - There were more pickup trucks in the parking lot of the
Exeter Curling Club on Saturday than there were cars.
That's quite understandable considering it was the 11 th Annual Post
Harvest Curling Bonspiel.
Designed more of a social event then actual serious competition,
there were 16 teams at this year's bonspiel which is always held at the
end of the harvest season.
"It started out to get new curlers to come out. About three-quarters
of them do curl," said Jim Kerslake chairman of the bonspiel.
Last year it had to be held in January instead of the usual November
because farmers were too busy last November as they were still work-
ing in the fields.
Everyone at Saturday's bonspiel was either a farmer or worked in a
farm related business. Everyone got a prize, with the team with the
most points getting first selection.
"Most of them (curlers) are from the area. The twenty sponsors get
their money's worth," said Kerslake who added he has, already had
new sponsors inquiring about supporting next year's event.
Curlers played two eight -end games and one six -end on Saturday.
Other events: The Exeter Curling Club has several bonspiels
planned for the near future including the Ladies Club Bonspiel on
Dec. 8. There is the Lincoln -Hayter event on Dec. 11 and this Satur-
day is the Holiday Inn Challenge...
