Tree Lighting on Sunday

HENSALL - The Hensall South
Huron Agricultural Society held its
monthly meeting, Monday, Novem-
bcr 15. The Fair is still months
away, but the preparations are well
underway. Please note that the an-
nual meeting of the Fair Board will
be Wednesday, January 19, and
will consist of a pot -luck supper, to
be followed by the General Meet-
ing. All members are welcome, and
encouraged to attend.
Tree lighting
The details of Hensall's Annual
Tree Lighting are finalized for this
Sunday at 6:30 p.m. Hensall Public
School choir will be on hand with
three seasonal songs. Rev. Mark
Gaskin, of Carmel Presbyterian
Church, will deliver the spiritual
message and Reeve Cecil Pepper
will be lighting the tree. Everyone
is welcome, and encouraged to at-
tend the ceremony. The Village
asks that all in attendance please
bring along a non-perishable food
item, or new toy as a donation to
the Huron County Christmas Bu-
reau. (Also, a reminder that such
donations can be dropped off at any
time to the Hensel' Village Office -
108 King St.)
Following the tree .lighting there
will be many further -festivities at
the Hensall Arena. Hat dogs will be
served, courtesy of the Pineridge
BBQ, and the Hensall Economic
Development Committee. The Hon -
sell Fire Department will be on
hand to provide hot chocolate. The
children will enjoy the candy canes,
supplied by Ron's Health Centre.
(For the adults - hot coffee, courte-
sy of the Village of Hensall) and of
course the Hensall B.I.A. spon-
sored free skating! There certainly
will be something for everyone.
Don't forget...the Tinker Tots
Nursery School will be providing
old fashion hay rides about town to
view the homes lit up. and decorat-
ed for the holidays. and decorating
contest. The Nursery School is
sponsoring the rides from 3:30!6:30
p.m., and from 7:00-8:30 pan.

Bring the whole gang along! The
Tinker Tots are also currently sell-
ing tickets on a home-made "cookie
house", Knechtel gift certificate,
and a lovely package from Klip 'n'
Kurl. The tickets are available from
Nursery School parents, students,
and at Klip 'n' Kurt in Hensall. The
prizes are on display at Bluewatcr
Interiors and the House is certainly
beautiful.
House decorating
Hensall residents are reminded of
the B.1.A. sponsored decorating
contest. There are throe categories -
house, business/industry, and apart-
ment. Judging is scheduled for the
week of December 13, so there is
still some time for those who
haven't had time yet for decorating.

Babysitting
The senior class, of the Hensel'
United Church Junior congregation,
is offering a free sitting service on
Saturday, December 4 and 18. The
service runs from 9:30 until 11:30
am. and registration is at the
church on those mornings. Children
of all ages, are welcome for a few
hours of stories, crafts and movies.
The P.C.W..of Carmel Presbyteri-
an Church -are reminded that their
Christmas meeting, on December 6
will begin with a pot luck supper.
Once again, the Hensall Scout
Movement, is selling Christmas
_zees :at 108 Queen St. The 75
Scotch pine and25 spruce, will ar-
-rive in the village on Saturday, De -
:comber 4. 'The °price -remains -the
same as last year; atS20.00 a tree.
Hensall Public School will be
taking part in the South Region
Volleyball Tournament, on Decem-
ber 3. The girls will be playing at
Exeter Public School while the
boys will be at McCurdy Public
School.
Hensall Public School will be
having a busy Christmas season
this year. The school choir will be
taking part in the tree lighting cere-
mony, on December 5. On Decem-
ber 10, the students will be paying
a Christmas visit to Queensway res -
Adams. Hensall Public Schoc>1
Christmas concert takes place on
December 14 at 7:30 p.m. The pub
lic is also welcome to attend the
Fess rehearsal on December 13 at
1:30 p.m.
The school will also be having
assemblies with readings, songs
and carols, from December 13 to
17 from 9:00-9:30 a.m. Public wel-
come.
Clarence (Pat) Volland is a pa-
tient at St. Joseph's Health Centre,
London. His many friends wish
him a speedy recovery.

Rovers is the most senior pro-
gram in the Scouting movement. It
is for men and women ranging in
age from 18-26.
The program is as broad as the
imagination of the members.
