celebrates 70 years
BRINSLEY - The Ladies Guild
of St. Mary's Anglican Church,
Brinsley, was formed on November
21, 1923 under the direction of
Rev.' T.F. Wheaten, rector of the
church.
Members and former members
and their spouses and .guests were
invited to a dinner on Sunday eve-
ning, November 21, 1993 in the
church basement to mark this spe-
cial 70th anniversary.
Elizabeth Corbett, Guild presi-
dent, welcomed everyone. Levi
White proposed a toast to the wom-
en citing their dedication, support
and financial assistance to the
church over the years. Elizabeth
Wright replied.to this toast. A mo-
ment's silence was observed in
memory of previous members who
-had passed away.
Lois Morgan summarized•the his-
tory of the Guild over the past 70
years, revealing several amusing
anecdotes and stories collected
from minutes of previous years'
meetings.
An impressive display from Har-
vey and Lois Hodgins' antique col-
lection and two autographed quilts
made by the Guild ladies in 1901
and 1963, as well as many old pic-
tures proved of interest to every-
one, completing a wonderful eve-
ning of reminiscing and fellowship.

vice at 11 a.m. Advent I on Sunday.
Rev. Emery for his children's fo-

Seasons of the Christian Year and '
this being the first Sunday in Ad-
vent.

with the lighting of the candle for
Hope in the Advent Wreath.
