'Thighmasters'
visit Aquatic
Centre
By Rosie Szczech
LUCAN - For their fourth meet-
ing on November 15, the 4-1-1 club
"Thighmasters" went to the Aquatic
Centre in London. The club met at
the Lucan United Church at 6:30
and then car-pooled to the centre.
When they arrived, the members
watched a game of water polo
while the leaders ordered some
lockers. Everyone then changed
and waited for the deep -diving in-
structor. The instructor came and
everybody did various exercises
(e.g. jumping jacks in the water) to-
gether.
After the exercises the club en-
joyed a recreational *swim aild
jumping off the diving boards.

BRINSLEY - There's no place
like home. On Monday, November
1, the Brinsley 4-H group met at
the Brinsley United Church. This
week's meeting was called. The
Wizard of Od (Outside - dangers).
Ladders and correct use of them
were discussed. You should check
the rungs to make sure they aren't
loose or broken. Ladders should be
one metre away from the base for
every four metres up.
Mowing the grass is also a possi-
bly dangerous situation. You
should mow across slopes, never up
and down. If you slip going down a
slope, you could drag the mower
back across your feet and legs as
you fall.
Just in time for the snow we got
this weekend, snowblower and
snow shovelling tips were included
in the manual. -,
Remember to make sure the area
to be blown is free of hidden haz-
ards such as toys, tools, rocks, etc.
These can be buried in the snow.
For the next meeting, the mem-
bers are to inspect any ladders that
they have at home and fix anything
they can themselves or get their
parnts to help them.
