Doulton
KIPPEN - Royal Doulton was the
theme of Kippen East Women's In-
stitute meeting. Lynne Alderdicc
showed a video on the making of
the Doulton figures and also gave
the history of this fine art dating
back to the early 18th century. She
also had on display many beautiful,
valuable and historic pieces of -Roy-
al Doulton.
The roll call was answered by
"your favourite piece of Royal
Doulton". Grace Drummond, the
president, read Mother Theresa's
Prayer for Peace. Helen MacLean
gave the smile and also conducted a
horse race game which netted
$21.Tickets were distributed for the
District Quilt. Hilda Payne gave the
report of the District Board meet-
ing. Ruby Triebner gave courtesy
remarks followed by lunch and a
social time.

Dougall opened the meeting of the
Exeter United Church Women Af-
ternoon Unit with a poem.

To celebrate the gift of life, com-
mittee members Hilda Taylor read
scripture, • Margaret McBride of-
fered prayer, Mary Neil read the
Old Tree and Veria Allen gave a
prayer after each member deposit-
ed a poppy around the cross.
Doris Denham entertained with
two solos accompanied by Flor-
enceoFinkbeincr.
The meeting closed .with all re-
peating the I./CW prayer.
GRANTON - The Anglican par-
ish bible study group met on
Wednesday, November 17 at Na-
dine Bedell's home.
At the St. Thomas' Anglican
church on Sunday, November 21,
the Reverend Stephen Emery cele-
brated the Holy Eucharist and his
message was about the peace that
comes from making Jesus Lord of
your life. Paul Acres assisted as
reader and server and Robert Par-
kinson took charge of the Sunday
School. A time of fellowship fol-
lowed the service.
At the Granton United Church on
Sunday, Pastor Nonmalie Voakes
entitled her sermon "Follow that
Shepherd" based on the lessons
from Ezekiel 34, Ephesians I and
Matthew 25. The ministry of music
by the choir was an anthem "Count
Your Blessings".

Alma Nicholson was the hostess
for the Granton Women's Institute
on Tuesday evening, November 16.
The program topic was 'education'
and the motto 'In youth we learn, in
age we understand' illustrated in a
poem 'Things were different when I
was a kid' read by Florence Bryan.
A video on Quorum Products and
Commonsense safety was shown
by Alma Scott. Members answered
the roll call with ways to improve
your education and gifts for the
Children's Hospital of Western On-
(ario Florence closed the program
with a reading "Little Words that
Count".
The president Muriel Lewis
opened the meeting and read 'All of
the good things that we do', '1 like
best of all Autumn', and 'A Defini-
tion of Women's Institute'.
Information was read about the
Fanshawe Village Yuletide and fa-
vours for a nursing home were dis-
cussed. The next meeting has been
advanced to Monday, December 6
w,a the group will be dining out.
Refreshments were served by Flor-
ence Bryan and the hostess.

Palliative care is topic
for St. Boniface CWL

ZURICH - St. Boniface CWL
held their monthly meeting last
Tuesday with a good turnout fol-
lowing Mass for vocations said by
Father Wronski.
The speaker for the evening was
Janice Hayter -Oke with the topic
being on "Palliative Care".
She showed a video called "For
the Love of Life" and explained to
us about the volunteer program in
Huron County.
Brenda Koehler spoke on the
"wrap program" and the recent
Right to Life dinner in Stratford
that several attended from our par-
ish,
She also said that the "Right to
Life Membership" dues will be col-
lected this weekend at all three
Masses ($5.00 per family).
A motion was made to give Fa-
ther Wrortiki $2000 from the profit
of the November bazaar for the
Building Fund and to make a dona-
tion to the Zurich Brownies.
A date was set for the annual par-
ish bingo for Bob Mittleholtz on
February 20th at the Zurich Com-
munity Centre.
Carolyn Mathonia spoke of a
Bake Sale on December 5 with pro-
ceeds going to the Sunday School
which will be held at the church af-
ter Masses.
A motion was made that the
CWL pay for the Sunday Missals to
be used for the next year.
Happy birthday was sung for Jo-
sie Dietrich on the occasion of her
"90th" birthday on November 22
complete with a surprise decorated
cake which was enjoyed by every-
one for lunch.
The door prize, was won by
Mary-Fae Regier.

Tavern on Saturday night while on
Sunday the Bean Festival apprecia-

Hotel, which was followed by a
meeting and financial report given.

grandchildren attending.
On Tuesday evening several
friends were dinner guests of the
Groots.
A benefit dance will be held for
Carol and John Finlay this Satur-
day at the Zurich Community Cen-
tre from 8:30 to 1 a.m.
Lunch will be provided.
This dance is to raise money for
Finlay's barn fire. Everyone is wel-
come.

Schilbe and two girls who have re-
cently moved from Main St. to the
farm house beside Glen Thiel at
RR2 Zurich.

The Zurich Optimist Club is once
again selling tickets on a third min-
ute shopping spree which are avail-
able at the grocery stores and bowl-
ing alley.
The Cions Club have delivered
the new 1994 telephone books, so
if you missed getting one phone

The next Mother's Time group
will meet at the Lutheran Church
Hall on Wednesday, December 1
from 9:15 a.m. which will include
Christmas crafts and a social time.

Pops concert
A lovely and lively "Pop's Con-
cert" was presented by the music
department students at South Huron
District High School in Exeter on
Sunday afternoon to a full house
under the direction of conductor R.
Robilliard who directed the concert
and jazz bands as well as the wind
ensemble while Mrs. R. Claesscns
directed the chamber and concert
choirs and the triple trio singing
groups.
They will be putting on a Christ-
mas concert on Wednesday, De-
cember 8 at 7:30 p.m: at the high
school and admission is to bring
along a food donation that will be
given to the food bank.

and survived. Vandals have recently damaged the statue
mounted on the cenotaph.
The Township of McGillivray, with the endorsation and support
of the officers and members of Canadian Legion Branch - Ailsa

information leading to the identification and conviction of the
person or persons responsible for this act of vandalism.
