HENSALL - Looking for it`iitfleievenge, the Exeter
Belles got it as they won their division of the 4th An-
nual Exeter and Area Ringette Association Tourna-
ment.
After dropping a 7-5 decision to Stratford in the pre-
liminary round, Exeter came back. to win the title of
the 20 -team event with a convincing 8-3 victory.
Emily in the first period, Exeter's Danielle Miners
as site burstout of
the box, she took a nice pass from Kim Farquhar and
went in to make it 1-0.
Stratford went up by a goal as Shannon Willemson
and Kim Boyce connected but a quick shot from Far-.
quhar made it 2-2. The two teams exchanged goals
again, Denise Halloway for Stratford and Farquhar for
the locals.
Late in the fust period Jennifer MacNeil did a good
job to stay with the ring and she teamed with Chris
Morgan to put Exeter in front where they remained.
Stratford could not get the ring past Jana Webster in
the second period and the Exeter offence just got
stronger.
For the second time in the game, Farquhar took ad-
vantage of a Stratford penalty and drilled the ring into
the net as soon as Exeter had possession.
It was almost 6-3 as Heather Davies shot the ring off
of the top of the Stratford's goalies' suck twice. But -
Davies set up Miners for the sixth goal and then play-
ing four -on -four Miners let go with a quick backhand-

Robinson's four
By Fred Groves

LUCAN - it was a ease of
mind over matter.
Last Wednesday night in Lu -
can, the visiting Exeter Hawks
went in with a positive attitude.
The result was a 9-7 OHA Jun-
ior Development Hockey
League west division win over
the Irish.
"Tonight's win is probably the
first time in two years we've
beaten Lucan," said a happy Ex-
eter coach George Pratt.
While the win, Exeter's ninth
in 14 starts, was a team effoti, a
lot of credit should be given to
veteran winger Shayne Robin-
son. He not only scored four
mats, but sparked a first period
conieback.
Robinson who led the Hawks
offence last year with 73 points,
is off to another good start as he
collected his 15th, 16th, 17th
and 1$kkh goals of the 1993-94
season.
After the game, he said know-
ing Lucan had struggled in their
previous few starts, helped the
Hawks gel mentally prepared
for the gamc.
"Tuesday night we had a big
meeting and it helped," said
Robinson. "Lucan in the past
was unbeatable. Usually we're
psyched out, we have it lost be-
fore we play."
Lucan got off to a good start
as they went up 2-0 on a pair of
goals by captain Andy Ross. His
first came just 1:06 into the
game and then his shorthanded
tally, the first of two for the
Irish, gave the hosts a big edge.
But •just 15 seconds later,
Steve Farquhar scored on the
powerplay which would be the
first of four straight Exeter
goals. Robinson scored back-to-
back to put the visitors ahead
and it was 4-2 when Ray Cousi-
neau was on the end of a perfect

Stuart Ashton. His fourthwas a
nice long wrist shot which
rippedithe mesh behind Ashton's
replacement Steve Watson.
Robinson has a certain disease
which, at time, can make him
very fatigued. After being shak-
en up in a recent game against
Mitchell, he wok a game off
which seemed to make him very
strong and confident Wednes-

"Once they scored that short-
handed goal, i sent out new
troops. We had to score and we
did," said Pratt.
Robinson looked very strong
throughout the game as his third
goal came when he muscled his
way to the front of the net and
deflected a Dave Dalrymple
shot past Lucan starting goalie
day night.
"I felt like 1 was getting wom
down, the game off really
helped," said Robinson.
' Still upset: Lucan coach Ken
Needham was very upset with
his team who dropped their sec-
ond straight.
After the game, and with some
of the Hawks looking on, Need-
• data made the _j t come out for
a skate to show them he was not
pleased with their performance.
"l'n1 not panicking but I'm go-
ing to release some , guys. I'm
trying to decide who," said
Needham.
While the Irish did manage to
score seven goals on Exeter net -
minder Kirk Durand, that wasn't
enough which meant Lucan's
defence was very poor.
"As much as you try and
blame the goalie or the defence,
the forwards have to help get
the puck out of their own end,"
said Needham.
Wednesday night's game, the
second meeting of live between
the rivals, came down to the fi-
nal few minutes as Lucan's
Shawn Fairweather pulled the
hosts to within onc.
But with Watson out of the
net, Exeter's Sean McCann
killed some precious time as he
went all the way down the rink
and put the puck into the empty
net.

Mitchell's streak
MITCHELL - After dropping an offensive shootout to the Exeter Hawks
last Wednesday night, the Lucan Irish regrouped and beat host Mitchell
Hawks 2-1 Friday night.
It was the first toss of the season for Mitchell, the defending OHA Jun-
ior Development champions.
Lucan took a 1-0 fust period lead on a goal by Steve Moore before
Mitchell's Kory Dietz came out of the penalty box to tie it in the second
period.
in the third, Lucan rookie forward Mike Reid scored the winner which
gave the Irish their 10th win in 15 starts. Steve Watson played well in net
for the winners.

Friday night at the South Huron Recreation Centre in Exeter, the host
Hawks dominated throughout in a 10-3 victory.
Shayne Robinson equalled his best offensive output of the season thus
far as he scored once and set up six others for a big seven -point night.
The Hawks' top offensive line was very explosive as brothers Todd and
Sean McCann each had a hat trick. Sean also had throe assists which is his
best effort of the 1993-94 season.
But while the Hawks big trio was doing their thing, the supporting cast
played strong. Chad Gilfillan, called up from the midgets had a goal and
an assist with other goals from Nathan Burns and Shane MacDonald.
Although Stars' goalie Aaron Lucas did give up 10 goals, he made a
couple of big saves on Robinson.

Brydges and returned with an 8-5 win over the Bulldogs. I
A Jamie Coanish goal with 40 seconds left in the opening period broke a
2-2 tie. The visitors outscored Mt. Brydges 4-1 in the middle. frame.
Rookie Jon Schiedel had a good game for Exeter as he scored once and
set up three more. Also scoring for the winners were Todd McCann with
two, Sean McCann, Robinson, Burns and Mark Livermore.
Referee Jeff Smith handed out just two minor penalties per team.
