Letters to the editor
Praise for student musicians
"What a timely example of what
happens when the energy and
creativity of youth is funneled into
a positive, productive activity."
Dear Editor:
- This past Sunday 1 had the pleasure of attending
the "Pops' 93 Concert" at our local high school. It
featured several groups of extremely talented "stu-
dent musicians" including the Concert Band, Jazz
Band, Wind Ensemble, Concert Choir and Triple
Trio. Many of these multi -talented young people
jumped from one instrument to another to singing
and back to yet another different instrument. I was
impressed. 11 was two hours of pure fast -paced and
enjoyable entertainment followed by a standing ova-
tion from the packed gymnasium. Obviously hours
of team -effort and practise preceded such a perfor-
mance but they were all having fun and really en-
joyed what they were doing.` 'hat a timely example
of what happens when the energy and creativity of
youth is funnelled into a positive, productive activi-
ty.
1 wish to aalute'Ms. Ruth Claessens and Mr. Bob
Robilliard for their excellent leadership and dedica-
tion and the school for supporting this fantastic pro-
gram. Special thanks toMatt and Lorna Miller for
inviting us to watch you perfoml.
To all the students involved, Congratulations! on a
fine performance and keep up the good work! You
are an inspiration to those who choose to spend their
time less productively.
Just a final word of kind advice... 1 suggest you
raise your ticket price!

Trying to lose weight? Research has found that eat-
ing with quiet flute music in the background de-
creases the amount of food eaten. If the music Is
loud, we tend to eat more. This Interesting morsel
comes from the University of Ulster in Ireland.
Migraine statistics: 54% of migraine sufferers said that a close relative
also suffered from headaches like theirs, and 65% said that the relative
was their mother.
We don't often think of mouthwashes as being dangerous, but many of
them have alcohol in them. In the U.S. those mouthwashes with more
than 5% alcohol will have to be packaged in child -resistant packaging.
Listermint and Listerine have quite high alcohol contents. Keep all
mouthwashes out of reach of children.
Some drugs can interfere with sexual function in both men and women.
Types of drugs involved include some high blood pressure medications,
heart drugs, antidepressants, stomach medications, diuretics ("water

concern of yours.
