GRANTON - Several ladies from
Granton attended:the luncheon and
bazaar sponsored by St. Paul's An-
glican church at the Kirkton Com-
munity Centre on.Saturday.
Sympathy ,from .the community is
extended .to the .family of Glenn
Westman who died at Stratford
General Hospital on Monday, No-
vember 1.
Pearl Bryan was honoured on .her

held at Sir Joe's Restaurant in St.

was placed in the church and will
be laid atlhe cenotaph at a service
on November 11 at 1:30.
A time:of fellowship followed the
service.
At the Granton United Church on
Sunday, Pastor Normalie Voakes'
sermon was about The Living
Flame' and the children's time dealt
with Remembrance.
The church had been appropriate-
ly decorated .for Remembrance Day
by Val Middleton and Piper Greg
McPherson of Exeter played
'Amazing Grace' and the 'Last Post'.
Cathie Wessman and Amelia Jame-
son read the Honour Roll.
Flowers Were placed in the
church from .the funeral of the late
Glenn Wessman.

Unit one met on Thursday after-
noon, November 4 at Diane Blake's
home commencing with a luncheon
at noon. 'Breathe on me breath of
God' was sung and the president
Doreen McRobert read the lesson
from Genesis 22 and gave the med-
itation on the theme God's Bless-
ings. During the business it was de-
cided to have a table at Margaret
Cope's craft sale and vlans were fi-

cers for 1994 were elected as fol-
lows: President Doreen McRobert,
secretary -treasurer Audrey West -
man and social convener Beckie
Kindree.
Audrey Wessman read an article
about 'the four chaplains fifty years
later' in keeping with Remem-
brance Day.
Chris Hall who has moved to
Mitchell was presented with a
Friendship Book.
Unit 2 met at Diane Dietrich's
place on Thursday night. Diane
also led the discussion about the
beef supper and plans for the Gen-
eral U.C.W. program in December.
Members will be asked to bring
items for a hats, mittens and
scarves tree for the needy. Cook-
books are still available.
Officers elected for 1994 were
president Sherri McRobert, secre-
tary Pam Hayes and treasurer Nan-
cy Mills.
Refreshments were served by the
hostess.

Unit 3 met Tuesday night, No-
vember 2 at Ruth Cook's home.
Elizabeth Garrett chaired the meet-
ing and business included plans for
the upcoming beef supper and ca-
tering for the Firemen's banquet.
Marion Thomson and Ruth Cook
were in charge of the program
when Diane Blake told about her
European tour last summer and
showed her picture album. Lunch
was served by Marion Thomson
and the hostess.
Unit 4 imet'Thursday afternoon at
Marilyn Humphrey's home. As
leader Marilyn read from Romans
12 and gave the meditation on the
theme 'Blessed is the nation', fol-
lowed by prayer. Plans for the sup-
per on November 10 were the main
topic of discussion.
During the program Marilyn read
an article from the Observer 'Apoc-
alypse' which was about the spread
of AIDS in Africa. She also read
'Goose Feather Chases Chill'. The
meeting was closed with the bene-
diction and grace and refreshments
served by the hostess.
Unit 5 met at Verneta Baker's
place in St. Marys on Tuesday af-
ternoon. The president Margaret
Spence opened with a reading
'High Flight' by a 19 year old youth
and gave the devotional on 'Frustra-
tion Block'. The hymn 'Land of ocr
birth' was read, followed by prayer.
After the business and supper
plans, Mary Wallis had a poem
from the Friendship Book 'Time
Alone with God' with each member
reading a verse. Mary also read
'Farewell to Summer', 'Farewell to
Falling Leaves' and 'A Definition of
a Senior'.
The meeting was closed with the
Lord's Prayer in unison and the
grace, after which the hostess
served lunch.

The St. Thomas' A.C.W. met at
Olive Hodgins' home on Wednes-
day night. Olive also led the pro-
gram when each one read a short
scripture passage and the Rev. Ste-
phen Emery gave the meditation
and a reading on Remembrance.
Cathie Westman presided and led
the business after which the hostess
served lunch.
