DASHWOOD - The International
Affairs meeting opened with "Pho-
to Riddles for Fun". The roll call
"All people smile in the same lan-
guage" was answered with an
amusing joke.
The London Area Convention re-
port was given by Sherrie Edwards
and Martha Weigand reported on
the District Board meeting.
During the business the members
were thanked for their euchre dona-
tions of lunch. These items were
then decided - charitable donations,
the Warden's Banquet and the
Christmas meeting to be held at Al-
len's Restaurant.
Brenda Sheppard and Katharine
Becker participated in the program.
The motto was "If we stand togeth-
er, we will understand together".
The topic "Enjoy a Laugh for
Healthy Living" included' words of
advice and a poem on laughter.
Each member wore a poppy and
was reminded of its significance,
repeated "In Flanders Field", and
two poems "We Must Remember"
and "Recipe for World Peace".
Lunch and a social time was en-
joyed.

HENSALL - The next gathering
of the Hensall and Area Older
Adult Drop -In will be held on
Thursday, November 18 starting at
10:00 a.m. Anyone interested in
foot care, please be at the Hensall
United Church by 10:00 a.m.
Lunch follows at 12:00 noon.
There will be two interesting speak-
ers: Madeline Rowsky, the Public
Health Nurse from Goderich will
speak on exercise. Kim SouCh from
the Canadian Mental Health Asso-
ciation will talk about a programme
called "lnterlink".
Don't forget the ltlgutar exercise
activity and line dancing. Join in
.ufbr fun, fellowship, information and
good nutrition. If you're .not on the
regular calling list - contact Marga-
ret Cole (262-2304) before Monday
noon.
Friendship Circle
After packing a bale of used
clothing, on Monday morning, No-
vember 1, and a delicious potluck
luncheon, the Friendship Circle of
Hensall United Church met for
their regular November meeting.
Mary Brintnell chaired the meet-
ing and opened with a Remem-
brance Day poem. Deanna Brock's
devotion looked at November as a
positive month rather than depress-
ing and negative.
Plans were made for the Bluewa-
ter Rest Home birthday party on
November 8. Those who helped
with the October bingos at Queens-
way were thanked. During the busi-
ness, it was decided to send dona-
tions to Camp Menesetung, the
manse roof, Mission and Service
Fund and the Huron -Perth Re-
source Centre.
The regular December meeting
will have the Queensway afternoon
group as guests, and Christmas
placemats will be made for -the
Queensway Nursing Home. Used
Christmas cards are needed.
A video "Blessed Assurance",
featuring the life and music of Fan-
ny Crosby, brought back many
memories of the old hymns.

The Carmel P.C.W. met on No-
vember I. President Jan Baker
opened the meeting with a Remem-
brance Day poem and prayer. Min-
tues of the October meeting were
approved as read by Margaret Var-
ley. The treasurer's report was giv-
en by Marilyn Campbell, Winnie
Skew gave the kitchen report and
Cathy Bell reported on the visits
and treats for the shut-ins. Rachael
Schwalm conducted an interesting
worship service with Dorothy Tay-
lor providing the music. After a
short business meeting Jan Baker
closed with prayer A work bee pre-
paring for the luncheon took place
before Pat Pollock and Marilyn
Campbell served lunch. The next
meeting and potluck dinner will
take place on December t, et 7:00
p.m.

The annual general meeting 01
the Huron -Perth -Bruce Epilepsy
Association met at the Carmel
Church on November 2. After a
short business meeting Dr. Pat Con-
lon introduced the guest s
Dr. Warren Blume of Olive
Hospital. Dr. Blume's remarks
interesting and helpful to the large
audience. Awards were presented
to the many people who have
helped the society with its efforts.
Hensall's Bill Gibson was hon-
oured for his work with Glad Days,
Rob Baker was also honoured for
his ticket sales and visiting with Dr.
Blume. Marg Vere and Donna
Wood, of Clinton arranged the
worthwhile meeting and promise to
have another get-together in the
new year.

C'ENTRALIA - A memorial ser-
vice was held at the United Church
on Sunday. Special music was giv-
en by the choir. After the sermon
the last post was sounded and two
minutes silence was observed. Fol-
lowing the service the Sunday
School had refreshments, the pro-
ceeds going to Huron Christmas
Bureau. In.the evening three mem-
bers of Centralia choir, Lois Wil-
son, Rev. Geddes and Brent Cas-
lick joined the choir at a
-community church service held .at
Thames Road U.C. Stewardship
Workshop will be held on Wednes-
day evening November 10 at 8 p.m.
in Centralia U.C. Members of the
Stewardship Committee from fah
churches.are urged to attend. Get
your tickets from church members
for the turkey supper at the church
on Friday, November 19 at 6 p.m.
A good crowd gathered at Hey -
woods Restaurant on November 1
for their card party with 13 tables
playing. Prize winners were High
scores Mary Moser, Ruby Beavers,
Lone hands Edith Eaton, Betty
Guilfoyle, low score Ieleen Pull-
man, R. Dawe. The next euchre
will be November 15 at 2:30 p.m.
Wednesday visitors with Mary
Kooy were Joyce Sovereign, Helen
MacDonald of Lucan, Hilda Bon-
ner of London and Jerry and Carol
Mills of Exeter.

annual Christmas Bazaar
held at the Dashwood
Community Centre on
Saturday. The quilt to be
raffled off was made by the
community. The picture
Burnett holds was donated by
group member Dianne Cook.
Theresa Larkin, of the Mount
Carmel CWL, helps with the
penny sale draw. Larkin said
they have been holding the
Bazaar for about 10 years
and all money raised
goes to charity._
