A lovely reception with family and friends was .held at the Western- Chelsea Inn, St. Thomas. They are now resid- ing at RR # Woodham. ititswailftlitivikarralave lbw winvninillikorts LUCAN - October was a 'busy month for Parkview Place and due to the nice weather everyone en- joyed it. The building has four new resi- dents as of October 1 - Muriel Neal, John Haddon, Madeline Har- dy and Helen MacDonald. October 18 was a social evening and all enjoyed 'the music of the Vim der Hydes. There was a good turnout and a delicious lunch was served by hostess Shirley Mason. On October 21. the Knights of Columbus sponsored their monthly euchre. `there was a good turnout for this event. On October• 27 everyone who at- tended the Thanksgiving sapper at the Anglican church came away feeling 4ull and happy. For those residents who could nen go out, their supper was, brought to their apartments. Hallowe'en night is always .spe- cial for seniors as they enjoy seeing the little ones. This year Parkview had over 125 children and it made this a 'special evening • for the resi- dents. Te alidilimEnetier EXETER - In the afternoon of November 3, Jean Hodgert, D.D.P. of Huron District 1/23, held a tea in Exeter United Church parlor to honour the visit of Assembly vice president Agnes Norris. Later they held a meeting in the 1.O.O.F. hall. Barbara Tiedeman hacl sent sympathy cards to be- reaved and get well cards to sick members. She also sent a flower ar- rangement to Shirley and Ted Wright for their 50th wedding an- niversary. Beatrice Bowman announced a profit of over 51,000 from the fair booth. The first euchre of the sea- son will be November 10 at 8 o'clock. The Rebekahs will have a memo- rial service at the, next meeting. The Christmas meeting will be De- cember 1 starting with a turkey dinner at 6:30 in teh I.O.O.F. hall. Huronic Rebekah Lodge from Clinton presented Gloria McFalls with the "Travelling Gavel" and a bouquet of carnations. Agnes Nor- ris reminded the group of the many projects of the order: - Camp am, Eye Research, Education Bur- sary, Barrie Home of Senior Citi- zensa and the president's project "Heart and Stroke". Last summer, she accompanied the yoath on their trip to the U.N. in New York. She said she was very proud of "our youth". In the .past the young people from Exeter went on this trip. All reported a very enjoyable and informative trip. The ladies hope some high school students will try Iogoaen this trip in 1994. eee EXETER Monday afternoon Ootober 25 some members from the Seniors Club played bingo with ' the residents. The monthly birthday party was held on Tuesday afternoon, Octo- ber 26. Ray Cooper of Exeter, Mau- rice Desjardine 01 Huron Park, Rena Young, Jim Young, Andrew Patterson of Seaforth and Ivan Nor- ris of Staffa entertained with some enjoyable music. Residents who celebrated birthdays in October are Wes Witmer, Hazel Pfaff, Bob EI- terington, Verna Bower and Olive Bierling. Many thanks to Elly VanBergen who filled in on short -notice for the weekly church service. Homemade doughnuts were made on Monday afternoon. Resi- dents gathered quickly after the aroma got around the Villa. The Grand Cove Entertainers from. Grand Bend presented their Christmas concert on Tuesday af- terrtoon. Resident Rev. Stewart Miner con- ducted the weekly worship on Wednesday. Thursday evening three students from Centralia College made their monthly visit bringing along a dog and a cat to make friends with the residents. Max Uuchanne, Geraldine Schenk, Doug Insley, Andy Rau and Doug Stephens entertained on Friday afternoon with some old time tunes. , On Sunday, October 31 the fami- ly of Verna Bower held an open house in honour of her 75th birth- day. Many family, friends and resi- dents attended and enjoyed ice cream and cake. Entertaining in the afternoon were Marlene Mathers, Eric Kints, Cliff Jacques, Lorne El- ford and Doug Stephens. Bridesmaids were Charlene Grainger, friend of the bride; Patti Geoffrey, sis- ter of the groom; Kim Fluter, friend of the bride; and Pam Geoffrey, friend of the bride and niece of the groom. Flow- ergirls were Amanda Over- holt, niece of the groom and Ashlyn Brown, cousin of the bride. The Hodgson's spend a lot of their volunteer time focusse on activities that keep seniors active physically. The couple said they get a lot of pleasure out of helping or ganize .activities such as the. Seniors Games "Tri=C Sports. "The games take in a lot of sports from bowling, to cards. 1 marathon walking," said Ray. He said .there..are.pbout 1 games in the event.
