Volunteer of the week A Times Advocate cIim !Pauly feats Sara Wallis It's been three years since Sara Wallis first heard about Youth Involvement Ontario. And since then, she has helped organize a branch of the vol unteer program at South Huron District Hight School. The Grand Bend resident explained that the program is about helping students at the high school, who are labelled with a disability, become more involved in social programs. Volunteers help students with special needs attend activities and interact with other students. "People with labels want to be involved in social activities too," the OAC.student said. But school and this program are not the only activities Wal- lis takes part in. She has been chairman of students against drunk driving as well as volunteering at group homes in Exet- er. Many residents took on new and exciting characteristics. • Thursday morning the residents had a real treat with the little ghosts and goblins from Zurich Nursery School who visited with their Hal- lowe'en costumes on to scare the residents. Carolyn Mathonia was in charge of her liule folk. Pastor Miriam Jones, Varna Unit- ed Church conducted Thursday af- ternoon Chapel Service. Fr. Elwyn Morris, St. Peter's Catholic Church celebrated Mass. Sunday evening 49 children and 13 adults from the village and sur- rounding arca came to visit with the residents and receive treats. The Country Christmas Home Tour, on November 13 and 14 will allow visitors to peruse five exclusive private residences not normally accessible to the pub- lic. All of the homes on the tour are fully deeked out for the holi- days in Christmas finery and flow- ers, and great decorating ideas, by a design team of are interior deco- rators and accessory specialists. The interest in organizing the Country Christmas Home Tour re- flects the incredible building spurt of new luxury homes that the Lakeshore District of Bosanquct Township has experienced over the past decade. The tour will highlight a full range of homes and decorating styles, and so be able to provide ideas adaptable to houses large or small. Many visitors to the Lake Huron district are also curious about the interiors of some homes when they tour through subdivisions such as Southcott Pines. This tour provides a rare opportunity for the general public to take in the interiors of these same homes when they are all decked out at their finest. The tour mute passport may be obtained at the Southcou Pines clubhouse, located off 'of Lake- view Ave at Highway 21, the south entrance to Southcott Pines subdivision. (Just follow the signs). From there, the route map and passport will guide you around the subdivision in your own vehi- cle to several stops. Some homes are within easy walking distance of each other. The designers will all be available to answer your questions about design problems and solu- tions, and availability of accesso- ries you may wish to purchase. The tour passport costs $10. per person. Group discounts of 10 per- cent are available for 10 or more tickets purchased in advance; or for tickets purchased in advance by museum members. Advance pur- chase is strongly recommended to allow as much time as possible with the homes and the design pro- fessionals. Tour passports are available from Occasions: Your Flower Shop, the Lambton County Buildings, Wyoming; Country Flowers in Exeter or the Lambton Heritage Museum. The Hdme Tour operated both November 13 and 14, and house access will be from 1 p.nt. to 5 p.m. sharp.
