November 1-7 is Pharmacy Awareness Week in Can
ada. The purpose is to highlight the role that phar-
maclsts play In the health care system and encour-
age you to make a point of getting to know your
pharmacist. Talk to your pharmacist for the best of
care!
Music can be soothing and relaxing. The music of the Baroque period
(Bach, Handel, and Vivaldi for example) Is good, particularly the slower
movements of their compositions. These slower passages are faxing
because they are written with a tempo of about 60 beats per minute
which is close to the rate of the normal human heart In Its relaxed
state.
Imagine a human blood substitute that could be used by anyone without
typing and matching... that lasts a long time on the shelf... and carries
no risk of disease. Sounds like a dream but medical science Is getting
close to this reality. A Toronto.based company is developing it.
Sharing medications with another person Is often a temptation but Is
never advisable. Even something as common as A.S.A. tablets can be
deadty in certain people, depending on the medications they are faking
and their medical history.
Speaking of the pain medication, A.S.A., It is often found in many non-
prescription medications and unless you read the fine print on the con-
tainer, you may not know it. Use our pharmacists' knowledge to help
you choose what's best for you.
