PARKHILL - Undefeated in their
first four games, the Lucan Irish
won twice and tied another in OHA
Junior Development League action
last week.
In their season home opener, the
Irish handled the Mt. Brydges Bull-
dogs 5.2, Friday travelled to Mitch-
ell and battled to a 5-5 draw with
the Hawks and the next night beat
host North Middlesex Stars 7-3 in
Parkhill.
The win increased the Irish's
record to a very solid 3.0-1 which
,they take into tonight's game in Lu-
'can.against the Alvinston Flyers.

Last Wednesday night in the
home opener, Lucan had a tough
first period as they could only man-
age a 1-1 tie after 20 minutes.
But three big goals in the middle
frame and another marker in the
third, gave the Irish their second
win in as many starts.
"I'm happy with the efforts so far.
I like what I see," said Irish coach
Ken Needham.
Rookie Rob Davis gave the hosts
a 1-0 lead when he finished off a
nice two -on -one break with line -
mate Greg DePrest. Davis, a Strat-
ford -native, will likely be the -left-
winger on 'the Irish's number one
• scoring line with o K t and_right-
winger. Steve Moore.
"I. 'think he'll probably be there
and . they .like him," said Needham
ofpavis.
After Mt. Brydges' Mike Deleary
tied it . up as he put in a rebound
past Stuart Ashton the Irish got
thnee,back. Connecting in the sec-
ond were Dwayne Price, Steve
Matthews and Derek Greenlee.
Matthews, whoplayed Junior iB'
last year, bulled his way down the
right side, fighting off an opponent
before backhanding the puck past
Darryl Reddy.
Kevin Meany got one back for
the Bulldogs in the second while
De.Prest and Moore teamed in the
third for the fifth Lucan goal.
As it is early in the season, (the
Irish were making some mental
mistakes like when veteran de-

would hope 'if the score was
diffaant he wouldn't do that.
They're thinking offence, 'that's all
it is," said Needham.

Last spring Mitchell 'beat Lucan
in the division final and went on to
win the provincial title.
However the two clubs were
even Friday night as they battled to
a 1-1 tie after the first period and 4-
4 after 40 minutes. There was no
scoring in the third.
Dave Mancari scored for the
Irish with 1:39 left in the overtime
period but with just 33 seconds
left, Mitchell's Rob Jarmuth
snatched the win away from Lucan.

EXETER - The captain has returned to rescue the
sinking ship and itis just in time.
Sunday night the Exeter Mohawks lost a 7-3 South-
western Senior 'A' Hockey League exhibition game
to the visiting Dorchester Dolphins but Dave Reving-
ton was back with the team.
Revington, coach and general manger 'of the Mo-
hawks is recovering from major back surgery which
has kept him away from the club thus far.
Without him, the team which won the provincial ti-
tle two seasons ago, has sputtered and did not make it
to their first exhibition game due to lack of players.
There was speculation that the team might even by
on the verge of folding but that notion has been
squashed and the Mohawks will open their regular
season in Dorchester on Friday before hosting Osh-
wcken on Sunday at 7:30 p.m.
"I think people were just discouraged," said Rev-
ington of the team's slow ;#tart. "We had made a list
of 50 players and each':oititeWas all capable of playing
this calibre."
Sunday, the Mohawks had 17 players dressed and
Revington said -others are "tentative."
At the MtihaWks opening night of training camp,
there were 234#ayers but the commitment wasn't
there when it cane time for pre -season play.
"I don't think [he.ague should start until Novem-
ber 1 when the Wtries is over: said Reving-
ton.
Iptte ihe.limited number of available players and
1bowingi tSunday's game, according to
Revi t There's no need to push the panic button.
"As T='ecall we started out pretty slow the last
couple of years."
New faces: Of the 17 Mohawks in Sunday's game,
only seven of them were with the team on a regular
basis last year.
Centre Wayne Urbshott returns after a year away
and big defenseman Dale Timmermans is back after
an eye injury sidelined him. Goalie Jeff Hill is also
back and he'll backup veteran Rick Pikul.
"He was a little discouraged and sat a year. He's re-
gained his interest," said Revington of Hill who
helped the Mohawks to the 1991-92 provincial title.
New faces are Larry Lewis who was with the Jun-.
ior'D' Hawks last year, Dean Schram, Mary Rutledge
and Sean Reaume all from the Strathroy Sharks
which folded earlier this month.
Jamie English and Rob Warren have Junior 'B' ex-
perience and the very large Todd Brodhead is also a
former Strathroy player. Broomhead who played
rightwing on Sunday could be the guy to replace the
hard-hitting Dale Gibbon.
Sunday's game saw the Mohawks build up a 2-0
first period lead on goals by Kevin McAner and Eng-
lish but it was 4-2 after 40 minutes as the Pc.
battled back.
One of the few bright spots for the`Mohawks amu`
midway in the third when veteran Greg Snyd-
er had a shorthanded goal.
Scoring for the Dolphins were Scott Cole with two,
BrianServetnyk, Archie Dunbar, Terry Wallin, Scott
Moser and Jeff Pearson.
