WHY DO I NEED A WILL?
It's a common misconception that only older people or those with large
amounts of property need wills. The truth is that every adult should have a
will to guarantee that his - or her - final wishes will be carried out properly.
If you die without a will, local law will determine who Inherits your property.
Seldom will your property pass to the people you would choose in the pro-
portions you prefer. With a will, you can choose who will administer your es-
tate, handle financial matters, and act as guardian for your children. Even
people in their 20's should have a will to specify their wishes in such matters.
So-called -do-it-yourself' wills otten do not stand up in court. Consultation
with a competent lawyer will assure that your will is legal and binding: his or
her fee is small when you consider the peace of mind that a legally secure
will brings.
As funeral directors, vJe have seen the disastrous results when the proper
wills were not drawn.
As funeral directors, we can provide counselling if you choose to specify fu-
neral services as part of your will. For all other related matters, see a lawyer.
We welcome your questions and comments.
