LUCAN - The Lucan Fire De-
partment officially received the
keys to a new fire rescue van Fri-
day evening.
As fire board "chairman Dave
Goddard described it, the presenta-
tion marked the end of a year long
project, which started with the pur-
chase of a new Grumman van chas-
sis.
With ready-made rescue units
costing about $100,000, Goddard
said the department saved about
$55,000 by buying the van,having
custom welding done in Brucefield
by Jamco Trailers, and then using
volunteer frrefighter.labour to com-
plete the -truck's fittings.
Some parts were removed from
the old rescue truck to complete the
project.
Only seven depanments..in Mid-
dlesex County have rescue units,
