ST. MARYS - Despite going ttp
against some pretty stiff competi-
tion, the South Huron senior boys
volleyball team did well at the St.
Marys High School Invitational
Tournament .on Saturday, winning
six of their 10 games.
"The boys played some good
ball, it was encouraging," said Pan-
thers coach Scott Ha'penny.
Among the teams that were there
were Preston and former provincial
champions West Elgin.
Thursday in Exeter in the open-
ing day of Huron Conference ac-
tion, the Panthers had little trouble
with either Wingham's F.E. Mad -
hill Mustangs or Clinton's Central
Huron Redmen.
Against the Mustangs, the hosts
trailed 9-8 in the opening game but
came back to win -15-11. South Hu -

One of the better plays made by South Huron came late in the game
when Shauna Rowe stole an inbound pass, shot and although she -missed,
teammate Danielle Knox was there to put it in.
Julie Rooseboom fed the hosts with eight points while Sara Szabo.added
six. Tracy Milian paoed.the winners with 16.

"We have a lot of depth and it
will be good for us," said Ha'penny
who was pleased with the effort of

South Huron seniors won all
three against the Redmen while the
juniors lost four games but won
two, one each from both Central
Huron and Madhill.
The senior Panthers are busy
with toumaments as they finished
in the semi-finals of an earlier one
this year and heed to Medway on
Oct. 16. The following weekend
they will be in Mitchell to defend
their tournament title.
