65,000 at Huron Country Playhouse
GRAND BEND - Once again,
the summer season at Huron Coun-
try Playhouse has surpassed the
previous season. Figures recently
released indicate that 65,000 peo-
ple attended the Playhouse this
summer. That's 5,000 more than
the successful 1992 season.
The undisputed hit of the season
was Fiddler on the Roof playing to
capacity audiences of 101 percent.
HCP audiences are now included
in the 50 million who have seen
"The Worlds Most Acclaimed Mu-
sical: world wide. A distant second
was the opening musical Oliver!
playing to 93 percent followed by

tion of Cromarty Presbyterian
Church, held a very. successful

Milne, with Beuy -Lou Norris ac-
companying the hymns.
Over 30 -adults and :children par-
ticipated: in. the .five -mile Walk and

"1t was difficult to imagine atten-
dance in greater numbers -than in
1992 but we did it in '93!" says
Max Reimer, artistic director and
general manager. "The Playhouse
was where 124 members of Cana-
da's artistic community were able
to work in the hospitable environ-
ment created by the local commu-
nity; sponsors, foundations and es-
pecially local governments made
our season work by contributing
more services and funds than ever
before. Assistance from the pro-
vincial and federal government to-
ward the re -building of the theatre
ensures that this success can con-
tinue."
`We're'flying high in '94!

Barry will bring" out the child in all
of us as Captain Hook, Tinker -
bell, Wendy, John, Michael and Pe-
ter himself come to life in this big
Broadway smash.
Next will be the comedy that has
been a sensation on Broadway,
London's West End and across
Canada, Ken Ludwig's Lend Me a
Tenor (July 5 -July 16). Tito Me-
reilli is to perform his greatest role
(Otello) at the season -opening gala
of the Cleveland Grand Opera.
Through a wonderfully hilarious
series of mishaps Tito passes out,
unable to perform. What to do'?
Fool the audience!
Twists, tums and sudden shocks
will keep you spellbound until the
very last minute in Ira Levin's
Deathtrap (July 19 -July 30). This
ingeniously constructed play offers
a rare and skillful blending of two
priceless theatrical ingredients -
gasp -inducing thrills and spontane-
ous laughter. .
Not Now, Darling (August 2 -
August 16) by Ray Cooney and
John Chapman makes enormous
good fun of attempted infidelity
and the tangle of misunderstand-
ings. This hilarious farce set box
office records in London, Paris and
Broadway. If your sides ached after
'93's hit, Out of Order (also by
Conney) be prepared!
Closing the 1994 Season will be
Rogers and Hammerstein's classic
musical Oklahoma! (August 16 -
September 3). Based on . Lynn
Rigg's Green Grow -the .Lilacs,
Oklahoma! opened .on .Broadway
on March 31, 1943 and a -golden
era in the musical theatre was born.
"Huron Country Playhouse is
continuing to grow artistically and
it is getting easierand:easier-to at -
:tract Canada's to talent ion 'to -our
stage, much to the Might -of our
audiences. Hook in Peter Pan and
Max in Lend Me a Tenor are but a
couple of the :many wonderful
roles being pursued -by an extraor-
dinary calibre of actor," said Reim-
er.
Subscriptions for all five produc-
tions are now on sale and range
from $82 to $110for adults (555 to
572 for youths under 16).
