HENSALL - Dozens of players grabbed for sticks
around the net on Thursday as they wanted to learn
about ringette.
It was part of a promotion night hosted by the Exeter
_and Area Ringette Association as they prepare for yet
•. anotherauccessful year.
While coach Michelle Hodgen was passing out the
sticks; the girls seemed eager to get started.
"We've _ had one (promotion night) every year but
this year we've changed it a little bit. The new kids are
invited out to the first practice," said Hodgert.
She -said that way, .those with some experience can
teach.the.others.abouethe gazne.

BLOWING-T=1R WHISTLE FOR A RAISE
Look for the'referees and linesmen to get a nice raise
.for ,the coming season. DONNIE "SUPER SCOUT"
!MEEHAN is -negotiating for the officials, they really are
:underpaid for all the abuse they take. (And some should
;get abuse). A first year ref makes $45,000 and linesmen
!gets S30,000. Not much when you consider that they
;spend years getting there. (N.H.L:).
For- officiating in the minors, there is talk it might dou-
Jble and even triple their salary. I don't buy the idea that
you'll get better refs because of better dough. Sure these
guys are in it for the money, but their also in it because
they love the game. -
BOSTON BRUISED WITH "STAR TRADE"
BOSTON BRUINS traded ANDY MOOG for JON
'CASEY? Are you kidding? Here is a perfect example of
'personals feeling creeping into a deal. Ever since the
BRUINS tossed REGGIE LEMELIN'S and .MOOG'S
;goalie equipment outside the
!BRUIN'S dressing room and
brought up JOHN BLUE to re-
place 'em, things were never
the same between MOOG and
the BRUIN'S. No comparison
in goalies and a real steal for
MINNY (now Dallas) because
ANDY is a consistent winner.
Listen to this hist; 18 games for
die BRUINS and would you believe, seventeen wins,

Sunday in .Lucan as the Senior 'A'
_hockey club begins its 1993 94-sea-
Laon.
Although fans will see .the :aame
familiar faces, it's .the attitude
which. already seems .to have im-
proved.
Coach and General Manager
Dave Revington and assistant man-
ager John Pryde worked very hard
in the off season to put a winning
on the ice.
"Dave and I both committed rela-
tively early to be with the Mo -
*rbc ks in 1993-94," said Pryde.

the Mohawks had veteran goalie
Rick Pikul and returnee Trevor
Hunter on the ice on Sunday. There
.were six goalies on the ice includ-
:ing ex -Hawk Clint McCann and
Dennis Scherbarth of the Mitchell
Hawks.
Scherbarth was the Most Valu-
able -Player in the OHA Junior 'D'
league last year and other than Mo-
hawk defensernan Ron Elliott is the
only player to come from Mitchell.
Pryde says he expects atmany as
35 players trying to crack:the line-
up on the team which will hold its
next workout on Sunday at 4 p.m.

veteran blueliner, Dave Dalrymple
will be returning to the team and
look for him and Jamie Cornish to
provide a lot of leadership...John
Schiedel of St. Marys looked real
good Saturday and the speedy fur -
ward could be a welcomed addition
to the Hawks.
"We've turned stones that haven't
been honed before. te've contact-
ed most of the Junior B' teams,"
said Pryde in search for players.
Back on the ice Sunday were Ron
Goodhand, Jeff Warren, Richard
Hawkins, Scott Pfaff, Joe Scherer,
Cory McKee, Chet Couture and
Kevin McArter.
Returning: Expected at the next
practice are Tim Shields, Greg
-Snyder, Barry Baynham, Dale Tim-
mermans and Elliott. A couple of
familiar faces returning were Bill
-Glover.and Wayne Urbshott.
"I think the guys sense our re -
mewed commitment. There's higher
enthusiasm in the =its," ,said
Pryde.
41e said the Mohawks have :a
good relationship with the Univer-
sity of Western Ontario and there
could be three or four players from
that program suiting up for Exeter.

on the ice on Sunday and the prac-
