Crediton United starts fall activities CREDITON - Regular fall activi- ties begin (..is week at Crediton United Church. Sunday school classes resume this coming Sunday at 11 a.m., im- mediately following regular morn- ing church service. All boys and girls from Crediton and surround- ing vicinity are invited to attend. The superintendent is Harry Schroeder. The first meeting of Explorers and C.G.LT. wilt be held on Tues- day, September 14 after school from 4 to 5.30 p.m. All girls be- tween the ages of eight and 17 years of age are welcome. The first session will be in the form of a picnic and organizational meeting. The girls are asked to bring 50 cents to defray expenses of the picnic supper. Me- lissa Morgan and Melissa Snell will attend Exeter High School for their first term and Barb Smith to Fan- shawe College for her second year in E.C.G. We wish them all good luck. Congratulations to Darrin and Leanne Lempreiere (nee Rimmer) who were married on Saturday at Goshen United Church in Zurich. Golden Glimpses ZURICH - Last Monday after- noon many residents of Blue Water Rest Home gathered in the auditor- ium to watch the video of Dumbo on the TV screen. Some moisture came to the eyes of some of the residents. Walt Disney does do that to you at times! Last Tuesday Ted Steinbach, Nelson Howe, Madeline Harburn, Marcella Deitrich, Mary Romanis- zyn, Ruby Hoggarth, Oriole West- lake, Kurt Gebel travelled to Springbank Park in London for a picnic lunch. They witnessed many toddlers and children playing in the park and enjoying the summer weather. In spite of Cathy Shantz' careful planning, this trip has been cancelled three times' because of impending rain. Once the picnic lunch was complete the rain did start to come down and shortened their stay. So much for Story Book Gardens and the Three Little Pigs. A thank you to the many suppli- ers of fresh fruit and vegetables to the Home and past few months. In case we should miss someone, we will leave you nameless. Your do- nation of fresh supplies from your farms has been enjoyed by the resi- dents and is always a cost saver for the Home. Thank you very much. A warm welcome is given to many new residents at the Home the past few weeks - Eleanor Brown and Alice Thiel of Zurich; Bernice Kennedy, Clinton; Esme Rigler, Aurora; Hilda Rader, Dash- wood and Jean Burr of Maple - woods Apartments. Our condolences to the family of the late Margaret Eileen Consist who passed away at the Home on September 1. Eileen has been at the Home the past year, lived many years at Maplewc id's Apartments and in the Zurich area. She was very involved in community work. Zurich Senior Diners meet ZURICH - A September 1 din- ner was served to the Senior Diners at the Community Centre. Tammy Antaya welcomed all visitors and diners. The 50/50 draw was won by Marion Becker. A piano solo was played by Grace Martin. A poem was given by Doreen Oesch. Earl and Doreen Oesch sang two duets. A humorous poem was read by Earl Oesch. Games of euchre fol- lowed. Martha Heywood, Wingham spent Thursday with her sister Ger- tie Fleischauer. Congratulations to Carmen and Betty Cable who celebrated their 29th Wedding Anniversary on the weekend when a number of friends and neighbours called on them. The church service and Sunday School began again on Sunday at the United Church after a months holidays. Revs. Clair and Peggy Geddes are with us again after holi- days. There was a good crowd out for both church and Sunday School. On Thursday evening of this week, September 9 the U.C.W. will go to Erb's Restaurant in Zurich for a so- cial evening. Carpooling at the church in Centralia at 5:30. Von Overholt spent Sunday with her sister Teresa Bedour of Gode- rich.
