Oongiegatkrns bid farewell By Joan Belerliug VARNA - August 29 found the congregations of Varna and Goshen combined to say goodbye to Rev. George Phillips and his wife Olive. Many visitors from surrounding churches and former charges of the Phillips were present. Following the service a short pro- gram was held with Howard Ami - strong as Master of Ceremonies. Presentations were made by several groups: Goshen Sunday School, a poster offered by Leanne Keys, Maryanne Hayter and Julia Finlay; Varna U.C.W. a quilt presented by Joyce Dowson and Deb Rathwell, Goshen U.C.W. a mat presented by Linda Linfield. The congregations of Varna. Goshen, purses of money presented by Bill Taylor. A unique address, prepared by Linda Linfield and Carol Simons, was offered in song and story. Back-up musicians were Hailey Linfield, Bill Linfield and Ron Fleming. Singers were Bill and Joyce Dowson, Deb Rathwell, Lin- da Linfield and Carol Simons. Next Sunday, September 5 at 10:30 a.m. Church will be in Gosh- en with the Service conducted by "Local Talent". The new Minister Mariam J. Jones will be attending tthe service but will not be taking - Tan Family Fun Day will be held this Sunday to wind things down. Each team vs. the parents. The schedule is as follows: 12 p.m. North Pee Wee Boys on South Diamond and South PeeWee Boys on the North Diamond, 1 p.m. South Diamond Squirt Girls and Mite Boys on North Diamond, 2 p.m. Mite Girls on South Diamond and T -Ball on North Diamond, 3 p.m. Tyke 1 on South Diamond and Tyke 2 on North Diamond, 4 p.nt.
