Over 1,000 people enjoyed both entertainment and good food on Wednesday night at the
South Huron Hospital's BBQ.
Al Renning. and his nine month old son Eric made sure their
plates were full as they were among the over 1,000 people
who took part in the South Huron Hospital's BBQ on Wednes-
day.
W.1. history workshop
KIRKTON - The London Area Women's Institute Tweedsmuir Hiitory
curators annual workshop was hosted by South Perth district at the Kirk -
ton Community Centre on Tuesday, August 10 with over 100 in atten-
dance. The London arca curator Ruth Matheson of Embro chaired the
meeting and Joan McCormick of Kirkton was the secretary.
The morning spcakcr was Carolyn Bart-Riedstra from the Stratford
Perth Archives on the Early History of Perth County.
The afternoon speaker was Lisa Brudy from the Stratford Festival Edu-
cation Association who briefly reviewed the beginning of the Stratford
Festival and told the group many interesting things about costumes, stage
props, etc. The roll call was answered by districts with a show and tell of
community artifacts.
Many beautiful displays had been set up by the host district including
quilts and collections of bears, vinegar cruets, plates, pot lids, brown dolls,
bells and cheese dishes. Also various community historys and house logs
could be viewed.
The ladies of South Perth provided hospitality in the morning and bever-
age at noon when each one enjoyed their brown bag lunch.
North Middlesex district extended an invitation to host the workshop
next year on August 9:

GRANTON - The Cook family
annual picnic was held at the Gran-
ton park on Sunday, August], with
87 in attendance to also celebrate
Billy Cook's birthday.
Ross and Cathie Wessman at-
tended the 40th wedding anniver-
sary of the former's brother Ken
and Audrey Westmanr-
nia on Saturday night. The
sion also marked the 25th wedding
anniversary of Audrey's niece Leo-
na and Ken Moore.
Many from this,area were present
when hundreds of travellers were
entertained at a buffet supper on
Sunday at the Ilderton Curling are-
na, cotnpliments of Peter and
Orcnc McNaughton, Ilderton
Tours.
Sunday was Decoration Day at
the Granton Cemetery. ti
At the St. Thomas' Anglican
Church on Sunday August 15 the
Rev. Stephen Emery celebrated the
Holy Eucharist and finalized his
message by sexing that only+by sur-
rendering in trust to Christ can any-
one be healed.
A time of fellowship followed
the service. Service time next Sun-
day is 8 a.m.
There was no service at the Gran-
ton United Church on Sunday as
the minister is on vacation and ren-
ovations arc underway at the
church.

District Hospital
celebrated their 40th
anniversary with a
barbecue that
attracted over 1000
people to the SHRC
Wednesday night.
The evening included
local talent, many
draws and prizes and
lots of good food.
Among the entertainers were Julie Godbolt, left; and Alyssa
Darling.
