The Mennonite Church youth
group are having a car wash on Sat-
urday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the
church parking lot. Last Saturday
the young adults went to Canada's
Wonderland.
The St. Boniface church will be
having a Pork Barbecue and Corn
Roast Sunday Aug.8 at the St. Bon-
iface Church grounds. It is spon-
sored by the Knights of Columbus.
The games will begin at 5:30 , and
tickets are 58.00 for adults and
53.00 for children.

The Zurich Senior Dinersmet
Wednesday July 28 at the Commu-
nity Centre. Tammy Antanya wel-
comed everyone and reminded the

nounced that applications are still
available for the 1993 Monsanto
Agribusiness Scholarship program.
Forty $1,000 scholarships are
being awarded to high school grad-
uates from a family farm who have
successfully enrolled at a Canadi-
an University in fust -year Agricul-
ture, any discipline, or Manage-
ment Marketing/Finance.
Criteria for the selection in-
cludes the student's academic stan-
dards and their demonstrated lead-
ership in the community. Selection
will be made during the summer. .
Through this program, Monsanto
is encouraging education by sup-
porting farming people, their chil-
dren and educational institutions.
Application deadline is August
15, 1993. Application forms are

Blyth stage gets set
for new play
BLYTH - Rehearsals have begun for the next play to debut at the Blyth
Festival.
Dixieland lovers will enjoy The Old Man's Band i a bittersweet story
about the relationship between a father and son, when the boy, an aspiring
rock guitarist, is forced to play stand up bass in his fathers Dixieland band.
True to his teenage ideals Kid would rather pursue his own muic but Doc,
his father, has other ideas.
After the lure of 5100.00, the threat of a bad haircut, and the acquisition
of a straw bqater hat, Kid finds himself playing with the "Dixieland Stomp-
ers" much to the chagrin of his rock and roll buddies.
Set in the maritimes the play incorporates a rich blend of music from two
generations.
Old Man's Band opens July 27 and will run until August 21. Tickets are
available for most performances.
