ZURICH - The warm sunny
weather for the 1993 Zurich Fair
was perfect for the outside events
which included various livestock
shows, the paradq, as well as a
baby show, and childrens tractor
pull.
With the theme "Farmers Feed the
World" the opening on Friday eve-
ning was attended by Huron.Bruce
M.P. Murray Cardiff, Huron
County M.P.P. Paul Klopp, reeve
of Zurich Robert Fisher, Stanley
.Township reeve Howard Arm-
strong, Tammy Thompson the Onta-
rio queen of the furrow, and Becky
Hartman the 1992 Zurich Fair am-
bassador. Dennis Martin of the
Ministry of Agriculture and Food
officially pronounced the fair open
with his comments on the impor-
tance of Huron County farmers in
feeding the world.
The opening was followed by a
youth talent show, the prince and
princess contest, which was won by
Kory McKinnon and Danielle Love,
and was followed by the Ambassa-
dor contest. Later in the evening, at
the dance held in the arena, Kendra
Fenwick was declared the 1993
Ambassador of the Fair.
Events taking place on Saturday
began with the parade which was
followed by the baby show, 4-H
judging, and the poultry, sheep,
goat, heavy horse and saddle
shows. The Mini Tractor pull was
popular with the children as it had
50 entries. A candy scramble and
other games were provided by the
Optimists, and a karate demonstra-
tion was'held by the students of In-
structor Brian Decker.
Sunday's festivities included the
Mid -Western Horse Show, which
involved approximately 100 riders
from London, Sarnia, Zurich, and
Broadhage who competed in the
showmanship and games classes at
the show.
The fairs activities ended with a
Fiddler's Jamboree in the Commu-
nity Centre. Many local musicians
entertained for those who wished to
dance.
With an attendance of 1000 to
1500 the fair was a success thanks
to the hard work of the community.

Waving to the parade was Laura Gelinas, Andrew Earle,
Jennifer Earle, Randi Clausius, and Samantha Wildfong.
They enjoyed the sunny weather, the bright floats, and of
course the candy.
Enjoying the attention in the Zurich Parade, but really
wishing they were catching the candy was the Prince, Kory
McKinnon, and princess Danielle Love who won their titles
Friday night during the talent show.
