Although halting a game doe to bad weather is not unusual, the circum- stances surrounding the South Perth Ladies Fastbali League game between host Sebringville and the Exeter Greys were. With two out in the bottom of the seventh and final inning, the host team was knocking on the door to score some runs and were down just 6-5 but lightning and heavy rain stopped the game. "It rained so they had to call the game at pat point," said Exeter coach Georgina Reynolds. "If we didn't have sixes at that point, it would have been a tied game. The game officially went into the record books as a 5-3 Win for Exeter. Neither team's runs in the seventh inning counted. Sherri Harburn had a two run homer for the winners but it was a sacri- fice bunt by Lisa Henderson to score Sandi Fremlin which won it Fremlin, the Greys' centrefielder, tripled and scored what proved to be the winning rUn. • Jayne Rowe went the distance on'the mound for the Greys and she picked up the win. Rowe, along withtral other younger players con- tributed in a big way. "She (Rowe) pitched an excellent game. The juveniles played well. Some of our regulars were away," said Reynolds. Exeter 11. Crediton 8 Monday night in Crediton, both teams scored the bulk of their runs in the sixth inning. The visiting Greys led 3-1 after four innings but exploded for two more runs in the fifth and came up with a big five run sixth inning. Becky Morgan started on the mound for the lassics, was replaced by Brenda Wilds and later returned to finish the game. Exeter LSehringyadi Last Tuesday night in Exeter, Greys' pitcher Patti Down tossed a strong seven innings, giving up just four hits to Sebringville. The visitors threatened in the top of the fourth on a single and -a stolen base but Down struck out the side. Exeter got the bats going in the bottom of the fourth as Cheryl McLlwain 'walked and then she came home on a big Sebringville error. Diane Willis laid down a bunt and a wild throw went into right field which saw both McLtwain'and Willis score to make it 2-0. In the bottom of the fifth frame, Rowe walked, moved on a bunt single by Henderson and Rowe scored when Reynolds hada hit., The pinch run- ning Shannon McBride scored when catcher Kendra Arthur blasted a three -run homer down the left field line. Skinner led off the bottom of the sixth with a double and scored on Brenda Bell's base hit up the middle. Pauls 31. Crediton 7 Last Monday night in Criton, the host Classics fell behind 7-2 after one inning and could not make up any ground. For Crediton, Deb Lord had a two out single in the first inning and scored on Angie Gould's home run. Gould had a good nigbt at the plate as she added a fourth inning triple to score Teresa Van Raay. The Classics got three more in the fifth 'on singles by Van Raay and Heather Taylor and plated another run in the seventh.
