LUCAN - "lite difference be-
ilwoen a summer camp and a su m -
mer school, from a kid's perspec-
tive anyway, is that you have fun at
camp.
That's what's going on at the Lu -
an Summer Skating Camp this
hummer as 95 skaters from as neer
s Lucan and as fnr away as Ko-
enox Valley, British Columbia par-
ticipate in the camp which is in it's
.second year.
This camp is separated Dio() on
loff -ice programs as head in-
Yctors Marg Carey, Alma Moir,
Carol Moir and Scott Rachuk know
lhaimportance of both.
Off the ice, instructor Suzanne
Grigg is running the dance portion
while Brad McThie, a physical ed-
ucation teacher at Medway High
School is in charge of the skaters'
physical conditioning.
Also off the ice is a theatre class
run by Bari Wheeldon and a new
craft program is run by Andrea
VanGeel and this has become very
popular especially with the young-
er skaters.
On the ice. the four he'd instruc-
tors are being joined this year by
Marcy Walker who is the pro at the
Zurich and Forest Figure Skating
Clubs, Shari Carruthers, Lou Trie-
las and Shelley Deniers. •
Mark Oakley is the partner for
girls during the dances. Of the 95
skaters, 28 are from the local Lu -
can club.
