The annual Vali Show of the Bid-
dulph Branch Agricultural Soci:ety was,
held in Grantou on Friday last,. and in
soine reepectswas as good as 'could be
expeoted. There Was a largo number
of spectators present. The day was all
that could be desired, the rain -of the
previous day having pia the roads in
good condition for traveling. The dry
season had parched and burnt all -pas-
ture, and water was very 'scarce,. some
persons.having ltd to drive their cat,
tle five and eix miles to obtain that
health -giving fluid, en 'that there Was
little chanceof getting the Stock in
good condition for the sinew. Your
sheep are very, vety dirty," said a Di-

ment was given by Crown . Division S.

The hall was crammed full and an ex
cellent programme was ' carried out

Mr. James Grant. occupied the chair
Readings were given by sevoral of ou •
local talented elocutionists. Dr Wood
gates as usual brought down the

and Hodgins. Joseph Grant and S.
Cameron recited a few pieces which
were not only creditable to them but
would hive )./eon creditable to older and
more pretentious persons. The musi-
cal talent was excellent. Mr. Blatch-
fool presided, at the organ with such
abibity as is rarely to be met with. Mrs.
Arnold, ,Misses. M. j. Grantlaral M.J.
Grundy. sang, several songs ma sat
down each" time amid loud applause.
The Grant Brothers sang well together
and were once loudly encored. The
Divisi)n was never in a more prosper-
ousand thriyiug condition which speaks`
well for the moral and intellectual con-
dition of this village„
It is stated that great progress is be-
ing made with the restoratiou of War-
wick Castle. All the destroyed apart-
ments have been rebuilt in a substan-
tial manner,„ -but the work of ornamen-
tation Will require considerable addi-
tional time for its completion. Work-
men aro busily engaged in. laying the
marble floor of the • Baronial Hall,
