Immaculate Hean of Mary
Church in Grand Bend: Congrat-
ulations to Justin Daniel Fas-
saert, son of Jerry Fassaert and
Mary Perovych, and to -Chantel
Bonnie Jeanne Kelders, daughter
of Martin Kelders and Tina
Humphries. These two children
were welcomed into the Catholic
community through the Sacra-
ment of Baptism.
Congratulations to Bert and
Emily Phillips, who celebrated
their 40th wedding anniversary
at the 9 am. Mass this weekend,
with family and friends.
Tuesday, June 29 is the. Feast
of St. Peter and St. Paul, with
Mass at 7:15 p.m. Saturday. July
3 is the feast of the Apostle
Thomas, with Mass at 10 a.m.
Saturday. Everyone is invited.
:Bishop Fred Henry will came
to Grand Bend for the 11 a.m.
Mass on Sunday, August 15 to
celebrate -the Assumption of
Mary. Afterwards he will bless
the new church hall.

GRAND BEND - Members of
the Huron Country Playhouse
Guild met on June 23 at Oakwood
Inn for a luncheon meeting. After
lunch Guild president presided over
the business. A heartfelt thank you
was extended to all those ladies
who worked in the Kiosk during
school matinee performances of Ol-
iver, to sell food and snacks to the
students and staff.
Betty Gurnell is now in charge of
the telephone hospitality -commit-
tec, after the resignation of Clare
Thompson, to confirm each mem-
bers' _-absence or attendance for
luncheon meetings.
Melba Lanstrom thanked every-
one who Wiped with the landscap-
ing at the Playhouse on the.annual
flower planting day: Pat Venton, in
charge of. catering, reported a profit
of over $700 so far for -providing
food at Opening Night, at the Press
Conference, and at the Ribbon
Cutting Ceremony -on June 4, when
the Guild served over 600 guests.

Daahwood gearing up
for Friedsburg Days
DASHWOOD - Summer's here.and the Dashwood,and
urea cottununity are already preparing for the German
• Friedsburg Days held on July 30, 31st and August 1.
Lots 01 new events are .Ploaaed for the civic holi-
day weekend. Friday, July 30th there will be a bingo
• at 7:00 pan. held in the community centre with $1800
in prizes to be won. After the bingo all are welcome to
attend the Bavarian Gardens and Dance .to Hook's -Party
Sound D.J.
The fun -filled Saturday. July 31st will be kicked off with our family
Parade starting at 11:30 ,p.m. The parade theme "Show Your True Col-
ours - Heritage" will surely provide the bases for some Woman and
original floats.

tising weekly to insure a firm place in winning the 1993 Tug of War
Championship title;

The Guild is sponsoring a special
bus trip to the G.B. Shaw Festival
in Niagara -on -the -Lake, on Friday,
September 10, for S75 per person.
They'll need 40 to fill the bus.
Mary Margaret Prowse has
agreed to chair a new project, a
Guild cookbook, with a Playhouse
theme. Sections will reflect that
theme.
All members are requested to
bring their recipes to Mary Thomp-
son at the Guild meeting in August:
appetizers, soups/salads, drinks,
main course, dessert, and a special-
ty dish.
Active membership has been
capped at 150, due to difficulty ac-
commodating such a large group
for luncheon meetings. It was sug-
gested that an inactive, or associate
membership list be drawn sup, who
would only attend the larger gener-
al:meetings. sflll beable oto pro -

vide resources and support for the
more involved active membership.
Irene Gilpin won $40 in the 50/
50 draw, and donated $20 back to
the Guild.
Kate Burnett, from the Play-
house, reminded everyone that
props are still needed, if anyone
had donations of old furniture,
clothes, jewelry, etc. Please call the
Playhouse.
The Country Barbecue and Barn
Dance will be held on Sunday, July
25, with lots of food and good
country music for the whole family.
The Playhouse could use some
Guild volunteers to help out.
An executive meeting will be
held on July 28, 12 noon,- at the
home of Doris McArthur. There
won't be a regular membership
luncheon meeting in July; the Au-
gust meeting will be held again at
Oakwood Inn.
