Andrew 'Imine, General Coach president relaxes In one of
the specialty vehicles manufactured in Hensel!.

HENSALL - General oetiChishn
the move.
T redititalally imam for its RV
manufacturing, it -will tbe'a year in
July since 'the 'first 'specialty 'bus
was introduced.
"Accessibility is what it's all
about," said ,Andrew Imine, 'presi-
dent of Oeeneral Coach.
"It's ,difficult for 'the elderly,
young children and handicapped to
'enter and leave the conventional
bus," he said.
' 'The specialty vehicles manufac-
tured in Hensen have a unique de-
sign known as the efficient low
floor.
It can be described as a ramp that
folds out rather than the lift that
many specialty buses on the market
have.
With many lifts it takes at least
five minutes before the,passenger is
aboard the bus, but with the Gener-
al Coach vehicle a passenger can
be aboard in less than a minute,
Imanse said.
The buses can be fitted with 21
seats or wheelchair restraint sys-
tems, -he said. Design of the vehi-
cles varies depending on the pur-
chasers needs.
"Some have a rear entrance doors
or electric door openers, for exam-
ple."
!manse shows the ,unique Westin of the specialty bus ramps known as the efficient low floor.
This allows passengers to get on and off the vehicle in -less time and with greater ease.

As more ofthe-bnses bit different
markets in the two 'countries; de-
mand for them also increases as
people see first hand how the buses
operate:
Imanse credits a lot of General
Coach's new found success to the
hard work of the employees.
Prior to production of the buses,
General Coach was experiencing
some of the common recessionary
pains and the manufacturing com-
pany new it had to make a'change.
"We had to find something that
would be in constant demand and
we decided to produce a low floor
bus." lmanse said.
After making the decision to in-
troduce a new product, they were
able to hire 35 additional employ-
ees.
