June 24, 1893 4 When com-
pleted Exeter can boast of two
of ihe.Gnest buildings in Huron
county, We refer to the Rollins
and Williams grist mill and the
Bobier Produce and Elevator
and Packing House. The mill-
wrights are pulling in full time
placing the different machines
and conductors in position. The
beautiful plate and stained glass
front in the latter building gives
it a most appealing appearance.
On Sunday last while Mrs.

The Lo 'S best, a spacious place to explore
By Catherine O'Brien

-GRAND BEND - The best of
both worlds it what visitors can ex-
pect when *laying tat the Love's
NestInn.
The newest bed said breakfast,
owned-by:Masud-Joan Love, is in
a -rural setting but close - to a selcc -
.tion of activities.
"It's a three minute drive. to the
'beachin Grand Bend, there is para-
-chuting at the club just two tames
away, the Huron Country Play-
house is 5 -km away and the -drive-
in is.also a short distance away,"
John said .
"Some visitors just enjoy taking a
leisurely walk and eitploring the
-farm .or relaxing -under-the Maces,"
•,hesaidofthe 200acr+eproperty.
The Love's made she decision in
March to open abed -end -breakfast
. and began renovating.the lower lev-
el of their home-almostimmediate-
ly.
They had been thinking about
starting a business for quite some
time.
"We wanted to do something
that wouldn't take away from our
time with the children or the:farm,
Jim said.
A bed and breakfast seemed the
ideal choice, he said.
"We were encouraged by bedand
breakfast owners in the area," said
Joan. "They .gave us a lot of valu-
able suggestions."
The c ouplethen designed a build-
ing _phin before beginning construc-
tion.
"We wanted to lay out what we
thought would be the ideal bed and
breakfast," Joan said.
They felt privacy was important
for the guests so they -installed a
separate -entrance.
"They can come and go .as they
pleasejustlike in a -motel,"' Joan
said.
'Within a few months they had
created "a spacious three bedroom
Inn complete with a sinin&:area and
private bath.
Each bedroom has two double
bedsandmany eye catching per-
sonal.touches.
"We want people to think of it as
their home away from home," Joan
said.
The couple have enjoyed a steady
flow of visitors over the past month
and expect more wad of mouth
business as a result of an open
house held in early June.
They didn't expect to open until
the beginning of June, but were
ready in time for the Victoria Day
holiday.
"We had a lot of help from fami-
ly -members," John said.
His father .made all the wood
crafts, while Joan's father helped
with..the.drywall construction.
Her mother made .the window
dressings and her sister made all
the quilts and wall hangings.
"I refinished the antique beds and
furniture," Joan said.
The couple feel that the location
and amount of privacy .are attrac-
tive features of their Inn.
Located at the comer of Highway
81 and County Road 4, the Inn is
quite easy for visitors to fmd espe-
cially with the name and phone
number of the Inn painted in large
letters on the roof of the garage.
Visitors are served a country -
style breakfast and have use of the
backyard, deck and propane barbe-
cue.
With the recession cutting into
everyone's budget, we feel people
need an affordable place to stay
while vacationing," John said.
"The bed 'and breakfast will be
:the way of the•future."
