A donation of $4,524 from the Exeter Legion Auxiliary helped South Huron Hospital to pur-
chase two pieces of equipment for their emergency room. An oximeter measures the oxygen

Stan Lee Club meets

VARNA - The June meeting of the Stan Lee Club
was held in Vama church on June 2.
President Anna:Keys opened the meeting with a sto-
ry.about lilacs.
Guest :speaker .for the evening was Thea Trick of
Trick has recently organized a family nursing
_Clinton.ractice. She explained this service is a small indepen-
dent -nursing agency, providing efficient safe nursing
care and support in the home.
These services include professional foot care, pallia-
tive care. home reassurance and support and placement
counselling.
This help is available daytime, evenings and week-
ends as well as iwlidays.
Initially they ;trill ,be :driving the communities of
Goderich, Clinton, Seafobtt:Bayfield and surrounding
villages andlowoahips.
Trick explainediindetail the services offered and an-
swered questions from the audience.
Several games of euchre were played. Prize winners
were Ruth Johnston, Ross McDonald, Margaret Arm-
strong, and Anna Keys.
A brief business session followed. Minutes were
read and approved and treasurer's report given. Marga-
ret and Bob Reid will be in charge of the September
meeting.
Harvey Hayter thanked the gorup for the card sent
while he was in hospital.
A pot luck lunch concluded the meeting.
Sunday, June 13 the Vama Sunday School will have
their presentation of Sunday school awards and Gosh-
en will have their's on Sunday, Julie 20.
Sunday, June 20 at 7:30 p.m. in Goshen Church Jean
Bennett will show slides and talk on her trip to Africa
with the Canadian Foodgrains Bank. Everyone wel-
come.
Pork barbecue tickets are still available for the Varna
Church barbecue on June 16 from 4:30-7:30.

The Exeter Legion is getting
ready for an open house on Sun-
day, June 27 at 2:00 p.m. to ded-
icate the portraits of the local
men who were killed during
WWI, WWII and the Korean
War. Local artist Harry Burke
donated his time and talent for
this and he will be in auendance
to answer any questions. Unfor-
tunately, we are still missing pic-
tures of some of these men, and
we hope that local residents will
be able to help out.
Upcoming also are the Canada
Day events for Thursday. July 1.
Many posters arc up telling of
the schedule of activities. To
start the day there will be a
breakfast ($10 per family of
four), beef B -B -Q at supper
time, Lion's Club Food 4looth
also, entertainment, hay rides
and to end the day a fireworks
display. We hope that all the res-
idents of Exeter and area will
mark this on their calendars and
help celebrate Canada's birthday.

The Stanley Township Rec'Committee met last week
and have plans underway for the swim program to`
held at Vanastra. This program is the weeks of July T -
16 and July 19-23 with bus pick up in both Varna ahi
Brucefield. Cost is $38 per child. For more informatith

Varna 441 met May 18 at Julie Consiu's. The Junior
leaders did a presentation on how to cross stitch and
Members started their first project. There are 16 mem-
titers attending this meeting.
Their third meeting was held at the home of Mavis
Turner's parents at 7 p.m. on June 1. They aro now
starting bell pulls. They talked about colours that are
dominant, primary and secondary. Their next cross
stitch project is something about country things. The
project will go on the Bellpull. Next meeting is at 7
p.m. at Mavis Turner's parents home on June 15.
The Varna U.C.W. meeting will be Thursday, June
10 at the church with guest speaker Ethel Ball.

SHIPKA - Connie Russell,
daughter of Doug and Ann, has
completed two years study at Lake-
head University in Thunder Bay
and has a summer job at the Bare-
foot Pedlar store in Grand Bend.
Michelle Vincent, daughter of
Harold and Lucille, has completed
three years of study at Windsor
University. where she is majoring
in Spanish. She has a summer job
in a clothing store in Windsor for
the summer.
Mike and Julie Vincent, have
moved to a mobile home in Shipka.
Mike is working in partnership
with his father in the repair busi-
ness.
Don and Elizabeth Adams. and
son Clark of Stratford, attended die
first piano recital of the Adams
grandson, Andrew Adams, in Lon-
don, Saturday at the Mount Saint
Joseph recital hall. Afterwards the
family gathered at Brock and
Dianne Adams and sons home in
London, where they celebrated
Brock's birthday.
Fred Miller. son of Earl and Mar-
ian, who works at the Cami plant in
Ingersoll is presently on a two
week work term in Japan.
Steven and Vicki Miller were
dinner guests, Monday evening for
a family birthday party for Steven's
30th with his parents.
