Hensall retains its fitness
challenge title against Zurich
HENSALL - For a second year, residents of Hensall
can drive through Zurich with pride as the winners of
last Wednesdays Crownlifc Participaction Challenge.
But the sweetness of Hensall's victory was dashed by
their lass to Western Canada's bean capital.
Although members of Zurich council vowed to see
glory this year, the Village of HegptU woa with sixty-
nine per cent of its population jiglictigging in 15 -
minutes of fitness exercise.
Only Forty-three per cent of Zurich residents regis-
tered doing a fitness activity.
Hensall's Reeve, Cecil Pepper and other staff mem-
bers will be at Zurich council on June 10 to relish in
their victory and present Reeve Bob Fisher with a "spe-
cial" gift.
But Hensall couldn't meet the challenge of Bow Is-
land, Aha. with its seventy-nine per cern turnout. The
two bean capitals are in the process of twining and the
agreement should be finalized at Hensall's June 14
council meeting.
Both Hensall and Zurich had a full slate of activities
lined up to draw crowds to the fitness challenge.
Zurich had a route mapped out through the village
for residents to walk, bicycle, skateboard or roller
blade.
There was also an exercise class at the community
centre and members of the Dining for Seniors program
held an exercise program of their own.
Meanwhile in Hea;:JI there were twelve teams par-
ticipating in a relay that included a wheelbarrow race,
water ballon toss and bean sack race.
This was followed here was a 15 -minute dance at the
park and a final relay race which the Village of Hen-
sall staff won.
