GRAND BEND - Have you ever
hit a hole in one? Fetv golfers
have, but most would wish there
was a million dollar prize waiting
for them when that liUle white ball
goes from tee to hole in one shot.
The Grand Bend Winter Carnival
is once again offering just that kind
of money for that elusive perfect
shot - only 155 yards and a whole
lot of luck and skill separates the
golfer from the cash.
The Million Dollar Hole in One
Competition, which runs from June
9-13 to raise money for the Winter
Carnival, will be selling chances at
the big prize for $1 a ball, or 12 for
$10.

A bigger five foot circle at 135
yards on the Oakwood Driving
Range is the new qualifying dis-
tance for participants, and 200 sem-
ifinalists will also get a chance to
win a Toyota Paseo before heading
on to the finals and the $1,000,000
prize.
Last year's hole in one shootout
resulted in no winners of the big
prize, but some $24,000 raised to
support the Carnival.
Organizer Dave Sheppard says
that the increased number of prizes
for qualifiers, and more chances for
participants to win big prizes, like
the car, adds to the attraction of the
event.
The opening of the five-day fund-
raiser also coincides with the annu-
al Scatcherd Tournament at Oak-
wood, which should help to bring
in participants.
To keep things fair, club pros and
touring pros aren't allowed to enter.
The finals will be at 6 p.m. Sun-
, day. June 13 at the Number One
