Town and Country bowlers win Golden Agers title

ZURICH - The Zurich Town and
Country Golden Agers team of
John Lillie, Laird Jacobe and Aus-
tin Hartman, from BlucwaterZonc
won the Ontario Golden Agers
Men's Triples Championship
Wednesday at Toronto's Cliffside
Bowl.
Lillie, 75, set the puce for the Zu-
rich team as he included a hot 283
game in his fine 625 triple to beat
his 168 average by a solid 121 pins.
Jacobe added 27 pins over his 129
average and Hartman scored 16
pins above his 129 average as the
threesome won the Ontario title
with 164 pins over their combined
average.
The new champions now advance
to the National Golden Agers
Championships June 27-28 at
Chelmsford, Northern Ontario.
Zurich's Golden Agers Ladies
Triples team of Wynne Burgess,
Marie Winile and Vi Giendinning
finished in fourth place in their di-
vision with 107 pins over their
team average.
Ten zones, including Bluewater
Zone "T', were represented in both
divisions.
Sleeman Provincial Classic
The Zurich Bowlers' Association
Sleeman Classic Regional team of
Anne Finlay, Angela Zielman, Car-
ol Prang, Marlene Bedard, Bev
Cregan and coach Tony Bedard
will represent the Bluewater area in
the Ontario Cp onships Satur-
day in Kitchastet.
A match play, pins over average
format will be used with one point
awarded for each' individual win
and three points awarded to the
team that bowls the most pins over
their combined averages, making a
total of eight points maximum per
game.

Goderich's Laura Brindley won
the Bluewater Zone "T" Youth
Bowling Council (Y.B.C.) Bowler
Of the Year peewee (age seven and
under) division title Sunday at Zu-
rich Town and Country lanes.
Laura beat her average by 82 pins
to fetish just seven pins ahead of
Mount Forest's Jessica Williamson
and 10 pins over Zurich's Derek
Ducharme in third place.
Award winners
Molesworth's Christie Snider
won the bantam (eight to ten years)
tide with 104 pins above her aver-
age. Clinton's Joel Thomas was
second at 82 pins over and Wing -
ham's Julie Moffat took third spot
with 69 pins over.

Charity Miller turned in the tour-
nament's best triple at 677 to take a
firth wasp on the senior (14-18
years) division title with a whop-
ping 188 pins over her Port Elgin
Y.B.C. average. Second place, with
plus 92, was taken by Wingham's
Jeremy Hickey while Mount For-
est's Christopher Thiessen was third
at plus28.
Thirty two Y.B.C. bowlers from
Clinton, Goderiott, Meaford, Mo-
lesworth, Mount Forest, Port Elgin,
Walkerton, Wingham and Zurich
were competing for special awards
presented by the Bluewater Zone
"T" bowling proprietors.
