ASS - CAN IT BE CONTROLLED?"
*Yes, but it's not easy!
Control of Crabgrass must first be done early in the spring, prior to the rooting of
the Crabgrass seeds Crabgrass seed germination occurs when the temperature
of the soil surface reaches about 18`C (65°F). This is roughly during the time
when forsythias and lilacs bloom.
Control of Crabgrass rooting will result following a timely, precise application of a
recommended Crabgrass control material. This material will form a protective bar-
rier on the soil surface which will help control the growing tips of Crabgrass
seeds. Crabgrass control materials must be very carefully watered in to be effec-
tive.
If Crabgrass still becomes established, a post -emergent treatment may be
applied to completely rid your lawn of Crabgrass.
It is also very important that the desirable lawn grasses be properly nourished
with fertilizer. A thick lawn will shade the soil surface to help prevent additional
Crabgrass seeds from germinating during the season as the crabgrass control i
barrier weakens.

NOTICE OF PUBLIC MEETING
THE CORPORATION OF THE VILLAGE OF LUCAN
PROPOSED ZONING BYLAW : AMENDMENT
TAKE NOTICE THAT the Municipal Council of the Corporation of the Vil-
lage of Lucan will hold a public meeting on Tuesday June 1, 1993 at
7:15 p.m. In the Council Chambers, 161 Main Street to consider a pro-
posed Zoning By-law Amendment under Section 34 of the Planning Act.
THE proposed Zoning By-law Amendment is a general amendment and
applies to those lands zoned as "Central Commercial (C1)" and "High-
way Commercial (C2)" in the Village of Lucan.
THE purpose of the Zoning By-law Amendment is to permit land, build-
ings or structures in the "Central Commercial (C1) Zone" to be used
for the purpose of operating a Laundromat and to permit land, buildings
or structures In the "Highway Commercial (C2) zone" to be used for
the purpose of operating either a Laundromat or a car wash.
THE Official Plan previously restricted uses such as laundromats, and
car washes because of their Impact on the capacity of the sewage
treatment and water supply facilities. However, due to the recent ex-
pansion in the capacity of these services, it has been deemed appro-
priate to permit a laundromat In the "Central Commercial (C1) Zone"
and Laundromats and car washes in the "Highway Commercial (C2)
Zone".
ANY PERSON may attend the public meeting:and/or make wrttten or
oral representation either In support of, or in opposition to the pro-
posed zoning by-law annendnient.
ADDITIONAL information relating to this proposed WawyAmend-
ment is available for inspection at my office during regular business
hours.
