Exeter UCW evening unit see slides of 'Europe EXETER - The Exeter U.C.W. evening unit met April 5 with Grace Drummond presiding. Thir- ty-seven members answered the roll call by "aging, playing..say- ing or paying a looney to Grace. It was decided to use this money as well as the tea money to buy a new piano lamp. Plans for the smorgasbord ' are well underway and Audrey Mac- Gregor asked for donations of food and help. The April event will be in Brussels April 26 and Westminster weekend is May 28-30. Plans to go to Stratford on June.8 to see "Gyp- sy" were announced. - Helen Coates' group conducted devotions. The Faster Story was portrayed after which each member lit a candle as Ada Dinney sang "Just One Liule Candle". Koekkoek - McLellan Robyn McLellan, daughter of Merle and Ken McLellan of Kippen and Dan Koekkoek, son of Frank and Gail Koek- koek of Cookstown were unit- ed in marriage October 24, 1992 in Schomberg. Maid of honour was Jill Kipfer, .sister of the bride and jr. brides- maid was Maegan Kipfer, niece of the bride. Best man was Dave Creces of Sudbury, friend of the bride and groom. Usher was Jamie Koekkoek, brother of the groom. Diane Jeffery wel- comed everyone and gave the theme "I Am the Resurrection" and an Easter Call to Worship. Kay Hodgert introduced Dorothy Chapman of Exeter who spoke on "Chernobyl Nuclear Plant Explo- sion" Chapman visited Russia late last year and she gave a very infor- mative presentation, including pic- tures she had taken. The Usbome Guild consisting of Jean Hodgert, Ray Cann, Ken Dun- can, Harry Jeffery and Bill Rohde played several pieces of toe -tapping music which was much enjoyed. Judith Parker welcomed everyone and opened the business part of the meeting with a poem "Dirty Dishes". Margaret Stewart spoke about the Pork Barbecue which is to be held on Sunday, August 22. Groups W and U. served a deli- cious lunch and beverage which brought a very interesting and in- formative meeting to a close. Good friday evening church service Rev. Jim Allsop was in charge of the Good Friday Church Service. He read from John 19:1-5 and then he gave the Meditation "The Crown of Thorns" and the "Purple Robe". The Moir sang "Blessed Redeem- er" accompanied by the organist Erin Kraftcheck. Sunday church service A good crowd attended the Easter Church Service on Sunday morn- ing. The choir sang "Sadly the Bells are Tolling" and "Easter, Easter" accompanied by the organist Agnes Bray. Joan Morgan, Jackie, Heather and Paul looked after the Lenten Triad. The congregation sang the chil- dren's hymn "Christ Arose" and Rev. Allsop told the children's story "The Difference Between Christ- " roes and Easter". His sermon was entitled "The . Church news There were some 50 people at- tended the Easter Sunrise Service and Breakfast at Elimvilte Church on Sunday morning. Wednesday, April 14 at 9:30 a.m. Philippians Bible Study at the Manse. Bring your own Bible. All are welcome. St. Paul's Anglican Church presents "Spring Fling" on Sunday, April 18 at 7:15 p.m. at K.W. Com- munity Centre, an evening of come- dy and musical revue with M.C. Leon Paul. A free will offering is to benefit St. Paul's community out- reach program. A combined choir of singers from the area will present an Easter Can- tata on Sunday, April 25 at Central- ia U.C. at 8 p.m. On May 13 the E.T. Loonie Tunes are going swimming at Kicks from 4-5 pan. There will be a pizza and movie night which will be announced later.
