April 6, 1983 - The Bank of Montreal has a heart after all. Offi-
cals have relented and will not be closing their sub -agencies in Cre-
diton and Dashwood after receiving many protests from the two po-
lice villages.
Huron county's 26 municipalities will face an ,average five per-
cent increase in the 1983 county budget which will rise to near $15
million.

Members of Grand Bend council were assured Monday night that
a compliment :of 25 OPP officers would police the summer resort
village again this summer.

hockey series. Coach .Scotty Rosier and manager Bob Galloway re-

April 8, 1943 -The quota of the Exeter and District Red Cross can-
vass of. $6,500 has been surpassed by almost $2,000. Centralia
showed an increase from last year of 70 percent and the Crediton in-
crease was 30 percent.
Exeter town clerk reported to council that 300 citizens had or-
dered trees for planting.
About 60 Exeter high school students are expected to pass their
Easter exams and be excused to go to farm work for the balance of
the term.
Stan Patton and his 10 musicians have been contracted by Eric
Mcllroy to play at the Lakeview Casino.at Grand Bend for nightly
dancing from June 26; to.Labour. Day.

April 6, 1893 - Mr. Jos. Edwards of Crediton South has purchased
a thoroughbred horse Glen Daley. He made a mile record in 1.42
when he was four years old and being of a very high breed the farm-
ers would do well to patronize him.
Messrs. Fulton, C. Walper and others handed in a petition to have
Stephen council form a Union School section 8 and 12 in the town-
ship.

cocktail ready. Lots of the women
pitched in to help with dishes. A
co-operative venture. Oh yes, the
men helped set up tables etc.
