CENTRALIA - Rev. Geddes
chose as his topic "Enter God - As
the Prince of Peace" -at the United
Church on Sunday. Holy Commun-
ion service was held.
Upcoming in the future a Good
Friday- service will be held at Zion
U.C. at 11:00 a.m. Next confirma-
tion class will meet on Sunday,
April 18. 2-4:30 p.m. at Zion. No
class Easter Sunday. A combined
choir of area singers will present an
Easter Cantata on Sunday, April 25
at Centralia U.C. at 8 p.m. Every-
one welcome. The official board
will meet Wednesday, April 14 at 8
p.m. at Zion. A combined session
meeting will be held at 7 p.m. be-
fore the other meeting. Rural Life
meeting Wednesday, April 7 (to-
day) at Brucefield U.C. 10:30 a.m.
to 3 p.m. D.S.T.
The Stewards of Centralia U.C.
will serve a breakfast on April 17
from 8 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Cost S4

per person. Children nine and under
free.
The shower for Donna McFalls
held on Friday evening was well at-
tended. Two skits were performed
much to the enjoyment of all
present. Donna was the recipient of
many useful gifts for which she
thanked everyone. A lovely lunch
was served.
At the community centre on
Monday, prizes went to Marian
Noels, Toni Emery, baleen Pull-
man, Charlie Rollings, Dorothy
Bullock and Evan Hodgins. Next
euctu: April 12 at 8 pan.
Mr. and Mrs. Hubert Cooper of
Exeter wei . Saturday evening visi-
tors with Mary Kooy. They had just
returned home from spending the
winter in Florida.
Jack and Marg Patterson of town
returned home on Saturday after
spending the winter in the sunny
south.

G R ANION - TL annual turkey
supper sponsored by Unit 5 at the
United Church on Wednesday eve-
ning was -well attended. Later, eve-
ryone enjoyed the comnnei Lary and
shoes by Murray Mitchell of St.
Marys telling of his time spent in
Nicaragua building houses with
Habitat for Humanity.
The Anglican parish bible study
group met at Mary Jefferies home
on Thursday afternoon, April 1
when the theme was "interpreting
God's presence among us".
At the St. Thomas' Anglican
Church on Palm Sunday, Rev. Ste-
phen Emery's message was about
Peter's denial. The Baptismal Cove-
nant followed.
The children's focus dealt with
the Kingship of Israel as compared
to the triumphal entry of Jesus into
Jerusalem on Palm Sunday.
A time of fellowship followed the
service.
At the Granton United Church on
Sunday, Pastor Normalie Voakes
chose "With high hopes and wav-
ing Palms" as the theme of her ser-
mon.
Sunday School awards were pre-
sented as follows: an eleventh year
bar to Kelly Waters, second year
seals to Jason Wheeler and Greg
Ili:yea, third year seals to Samantha
Grant and Katherine Cope; fourth
year seals to Mathew McRobert
and Tiffany Blom; fifth year seal
plus perfect attendance for January,
February and March to Andrew
Bryan; and a diploma to Stephanie
Mills.
Please note: The Easter Sunrise
service will be held Sunday, at 7:30
a.m. followed by breakfast with a
free will offering for the church
roof fund.

Unit one met at Diane Blake's
home on Thursday afternoon.
Final plans were made for the
breakfast following the 7:30 a.m.
Easter Sunrise service. No iiekets
required, just a donation to the roof
fund and everyone is welcome to
attend. Also further arrangements
were made for the Mother and
Daughter Luncheon on May 8.
Blake gave a program presentation
on Resurrection in Spring. As the
hostess she also served supper in a
springlike setting.
Unit two met at the United
Church on Thursday evening when
Diane Dietrich chaired the meeting
and Margaret Cope was in charge
of the program. The` special spsaker
was Michael Baker on Landscape
Design, demonstrating the art of
pruning and giving general Land-
scaping ideas for country dwell-
ings. Refreshments were then
served by Julie McRobert and Pam
Hayes.
A business meeting followed
when discussion included the East-
er Sunrise service, plans for a yard
sale on May39-at Main and Station
Streets and a family barbecue in
June.
Unit three members and some
friendly helpers gathered at the
church on Thrusday, April 1 and
made over 500 turkey pies and
that's no April Fool.

On April 1 the Granton Maple
Taffy Bucket Spites and guests
gathered at the home of leader Mar-
garet Bryan for their Maple Syrup
Achievement night. The program
commenced with games 'and then
the members presented their pro-
jects resting maple syrup.
Winners in a vote for the best
book covers were Susan Bryan,
Dixie McRobert and Katherine
Harding. Special awards were re-
ceived by Cheryl Harrigan for com-
pleting her first club and by Kathe-
rine Harding for completing twelve
clubs.
The evening concluded with
members and guests sampling
treats made by Melanie Beatson, af-
ter expressing their thanks to lead-
ers Deanna Beatson and Margaret
Bryan. Katherine Harding was the
press reporter.
