Exeter won the best -of -seven west division quarter -final series in six games and will now face the Lucan Irish. Sunday in Lambeth, the visitors trailed 1-0 after the first period and Exeter vs. Lucan in OHA Junior 'D' West semi-finals LUCAN - Although both teams have displayed strong goaltening in the playoffs, expect fairly high scoring games in the next round of the Ontario Hockey Association Junior Development League series. Beginning tonight at the Lucan Arena, the host Lucan Irish will go up against their biggest rival,'the Exeter Hawks in the west division semi- finals. The best -of -seven series will pit the league leading scorer, Greg DePrest and his linemates Steve Moore and Sean Kaczmarek, against a corps of Exeter snipers led by Steph Audet who had six goals in as many games against Lambeth. It only took the Irish four games to eliminate the Belmont Pests while Exeter concluded their series with Lambeth on Sunday. That went six games. (see attached story). Audet is not the only Hawk who has scored in the post season as Dan Ryan and Sean McCann each had five tallies while Ray Cousineau and Dave Dalrymple each had four goals. The pleasant surprise for the Hawks has been veteran netminder Clint McCann who posted a 3.30 goals against average over six games. During-the.-negular season these two teams met five times with Lucan winning four and the other. a 3-3 deadlock back on December 30. With 36 seconds left in regu- lation play, John Bell got the win- ner and Dave Dalrymple notched the insurance marker with seven seconds left. Friday night in Exeter, the game was tied 3-3 and it took Lambeth to win 5-4 in overtime. McCann had two goals for Exeter with one each from Dan Ryan and Dan Irvine. This game had a controversial ending as the Hawks' scored with 11 seconds left in the overtime pe- riod but a Lambeth player knocked the net off and was sent to the pen- alty box for delay of game. Wednesay night in Lambeth the Hawks had little trouble building a 4-2 lead and then crusied to a 9-2 wi,,. Exeter scored four powerplay goals and were led by the hat trick of Audet while Dalrymple and Ryan each had a pair with singles from Shackleton and Barton.
