Jayne Ballantyne, centre; of Usborne Central School cheers
her team onto victory during Friday afternoon's South Huron
County Elementary School girls basketball championship at
the Exeter Public School. In this particular game, Usborne,
who won all five of its games, beat Zurich in a very close 12-
10 contest. Usborne's leading scorers on the day were Shaw-
na Rowe and Jenn Case. It was a very exciting day for Us-,
bome as the boys' team, which competed in the tournament
at McCurdy Public School, also on Friday, tied for first place. ,
Both the Usbome boys and Exeter finished with identical 4-1
records just ahead of Hensall at 3-2. ,
Free throwing Jeff Lovie of Zurich Public School won the
1993 Regional Basketball Free Throw competition held March
6. Lovie sunk 21 of 25 shots to win the 11 -year-old boys cate-
gory in the province -wide competition.
