Exeter Peewees end streak at seven
OMHA 'CC'
playoffs
DRESDEN - It had to come to an
end eventually.
Sunday, the Exeter Legion pee-
wees were beaten 3-2 by host Dres-
den to halt their Ontario Minor
Hockey Association playoff win-
ning streak at seven games.
The quarter -final series
which is now tied at two points
each, resumed last night in Dresden

WHEATLEY - They -used to throw octopus in Detroit at the Red Wings
games. Now, in Wheatley, they throw fish.
On the weekend, the Exeter RSD Generals travelled to Wheatley and
split a pair of Ontario Minor Hockey Association midget 'CC' playoff
games.
The series is tied now at three points each and will continue Saturday
night in Exeter at the South Huron Recreation Centre at 8 p.m.
Saturday in Wheatley, the Generals lost a 4-2 decision. In front of a
large crowd, the visitors scored both their goals in the opening period.
Connecting for the Generals were Gavin Snell and Mark Glavin. Steve
Farquhar, Mark Brintnell and Trevor Taylor had assists.
Every time the home team scored, a fish was thrown on the ice in cele-
bration.

Sunday, the Generals forechecked and backchecked well in a 3-1 victor
ry•
Farquhar led the way with a pair of goals with the other off the stick of
Derek Beckett. Snell and Taylor had assists.
The Generals are looking for a strong showing of fans of their own on
Saturday so come out and cheer the locals.

Wednesday night in the opening
.game of the series, Dave Farquhar
put on quite a show as he had three
goals and a pair of assists in a 7-3
victory.
While it appeared as though this
one would be close as it was 2-2
early in the second period, the Le-
gion peewees exploded for three
third period goals.
In their seventh straight playoff
win, Szabo was on the receiving
end of a pass from behind the net
by Bell. It was 2-0 when Farquhar
scored his first of two shorthanded
tallies, this time Dave Marshall
helped out.
But with 2:39 left in the opening
period, Dresden's Ian Houston
pulled his team to within one and
then early in the middle frame, a
71m Btnwn backhander beat Le-
gion netminder Joey Bicrling.
Still in the second, Farquhar car-
ried the puck into the Dresden zone
and after he was hauled down, Mar-
shall put it in past Jeremy Babcock.
Just 46 seconds later Farquhar
scorod shothanded when he went
all the way to the net. An ice level
shot by MacLean and it was 5-2
early in the final period.
But once again the visitors came
back as Chris Heslop beat Bierling
on a play in which the Exeter goal-
ie managed to get a piece of it, but
just not enough.

RIDGETOWN - It was a tough
weekend for the Exeter Atom

and Chad Monteith each had a goal
and an assist for Exeter. Also scor-
ing were Steven Rasenberg and
Scott Keys. Assisting were Peter
Fragiskatos, Jared Bourne, Craig
Overholt and Wayne Cole.

single goals from Rasenberg and
Ryan Ralph. Tim Maver, Overholt
and Fragiskatos had the assists.
Gooch went the distance between
the pipes.
