Scouting alive and well in GB

GRAND BEND - The Grand
Bend Beavers are busy and eager
as always. There theme this year is
Community Helpers with visits to
the Fire Hall and the Medical Cen-
tre. They recently took part in
Winterfest in Zurich with other
Beaver colonies from the district.
The Beavers. with the help of
Rusty (Berea- tussell) entered a
great float in the Grand Bend Win-
ter Carnival Parade.
The Grand Bend Cubs are work-
ing on their Green Star, which is
quite an involved star, learning
about our founder Lord Baden
Powell, knots stars, compass read-
ing, using road maps, weather
changes, hikes, starting fires and

lot of new Cubs earned their Skat-
ers Badge that night.
The Cubs are also busy making
their Kub Kars. The first year boys
and parents are having fun caring a
fast, fancy Kar out of a block of
wood. Grand Bend is hosting this
year's District Kub Kar Rally,
March 6 at the Legion, expecting
over 200 participants. They look
forward to seeing all the latest
styles andilmodels this years Cubs
will present.
The Grand Bend Scouts have
been busy putting the OUT in
Scouting. They have done a few
hikes, visited the Water Treatment
Plant, Clearwater Aircraft Hangar
and the London Police Hea
ters. The Scouts looked ter a
food booth during Winter Cahttival
and will operate one again during
the Kub Kar Rally.

CENTRALIA - At the United
Church on Sunday, Rev. Geddes
chose as his subject "Enter God -
When All Seems to Be Against
Us".
A short congregational meeting
was held following the service.
The pizza party on Sunday eve-
ning was enjoyed by seven young
people. Bible study continues each
'Monday evening at 8 p.m. On Fri-
day, March 5 the UCW are invited
to Zion United Church at 8 p.m. for
World Day of Prayer service. Cars
will leave Centralia UC at 7:30
p.m.
On Saturday, March 6, a Men's
Breakfast will be served at 8:30
a.m. Norman Holbrook former Ag.
Missionary in Nepal will be guest
speaker. All men welcome.
Personals
Ron and Linda Holcombe enter-
tained several family members on
-Sunday to dinner.
Von Overholt is celebrating -a
'birthday on Wednesday (today).

Ministries
send donations
EXETER - The February 25
meeting of the Women's Ministries
was held at the home of Rev. and
Mrs.-Robt.Peebles, at 2 p.m.
Prayer 'was offered by Dorothy
Cooper. President Jean Triebner led
in the .hymns "Love Lifted Me",
and "Love Wonderful Love".
Marion Triebner accompanied on
the organ. The toll call was taken
and answered by a scripture verse
on Love.
In our business it was decided to
send donations to the Brazil or-
phanage, Argentina orphanage and
the blind school in Thailand.
Ella Tinney gave a missionary
reading concerning Gloria Cun-
calPs work in Greece.
A poem was read by Shirley
Prouty entitled "My Salvation".
Rev. Peebles gave the message of
the afternoon. The scripture Mat-
thew 14 was read. They sang the
chorus "Jesus Use Me". Then a
prayer time was held. Lunch was
served, and provided by Rev. and
Mrs. Peebles.
