to see slides of Israel
CREDITON - The regular meeting of the United
Church Women of Crediton United Church to be held
tomorrow night, Thursday will feature slides from Rev.
Ed Laksmanis's trip to Israel.
Rev. Laksmanis recently spent a week touring Israel
along with area clergy, Rev. Colin Stover of Grated
Bend United Church and Rev. Bob Degraw of the
Faith Tabernacle in Centralia.
Thursday's meeting to start at & p m..is open to any-
one in the area. Men are welcome.
Senior choir practice is set for:the:Mou h tonight,
Wednesday at 8 p.m.
The Explorer -and C.G.LT. groups will meet next
Tuesday night at the church after school.
The first day of registration for the Crediton Minor
-Baseball Association is planned for this coming Satur-
day between the hours of 10 a.m. and 12 noon at the
Parks Boardroom in Crediton.
Boys and girls wishing to play in a variety of age
..categories have a second chance on Thursday, March
11 between 7 and 9 p.m. to sign up.
The cost for the steamer is $10 for T -ball and $20
• for all other teams. Family rates are available. There
will be a $10 penalty for late registration. Coaches are
also needed.
Saintsbury ACW plan event

SAINTSBURY - St. Patrick's
Anglican Church celebrated a ser-
vice. of. Holy Community Sunday
morning. Rev. Stephen Emery for
the' children's focus spoke of the
Season of Lent and its meaning.
Following the hymn "Saviour teach
me day to day", the children went
to their class. Courtney MacGilliv-
ray acted as substitute teacher for
the beginner's class.
There will •be no service this
week at St. Patrick's, Rev. Emery
will be away on a continuing edu-
cation retreat through the week of
March 7. Services on March 7 are
at 9:45 a.m. at St. Pauls in Kirkton
and St. Thomas . in Granton at
11:00 a.m.
ACW
The St. Patrick's ACW will meet
at the home of Cheryl Carroll on
Tuesday, .March 9 at 8:00 p.m
Please remember your items for
Daily Bread.
The A.C.W. will hold their St.
7APatrick's Day Dessert Euchre and
Bake Sale on Tuesday, March 16 at
1:00 p.m. There promises to be lots
of delicious desserts, home baking,
good prizes, and a great afternoon
of fun.

Dining for Seniors

EXETER - Valentine's Day Cele-
bration was one of the highlights
for this month's programming. The
hall was decorated with red and
white valentine decor. Tammy wel-
comed all and read a poem "One
Heart to Give".
We had very special table ar-
rangements made by the children
attending Toddler's Inn Nursery
School. They became very special
draw prikes and one was taken to
Nelson Squire in the Hospital for
his birthday.
The children put on a delightful
programme and were given a treat.
Keyboard players for this month
were Josie Ryckman, Maxine Sere-
da. and Floretice Finkbeiner. Thank
you to very talented people.
Draw prize winners were: Len
McNaughton, Doris Edwards,
Dutchy Wooley, Ruth Skinner, Ha-
zel Beaver, Muriel Miller, and
Miene Eizenga.

Marjorie Johns and Jack Haynes
entertained with rollicking old time
music. Birthday honours were sung
to: Tammy Antaya, Dutchy Woo-
ley, Louise Carson, Jean Allen,
Rheta Playfoot and Agnes Aunger.
A card of thanks was sent from
Mary Meikle who is in Mitchell
Nursing Home. , .•--
Cards and games followed each
programme in the month.

Michael and Suzanne Davis were
weekend visitors at Detroit. They
were celebrating their anniversary.

THAMES ROAD - The regular
church service on Sunday was con-
ducted by Rev. Jim Albop to a very
small attendance.
The Responsive Reading was
Psalm 32. The choir sang "If I can
Help Somebody" accompanied by
the organist Erin Kraftcheck. The
audience sang the children's hymn
"Seek Ye First" and Rev. Allsop
told the children a story "About
Lent".
The Scripture Lesson was read
from Genesis 2:15-17; 3:1-7 and
the Gospel of Matthew 4:1-11.
Rev. Aflsop's sermon was entitled
"Jesus' Temptation, and Ours."
Jack Stewart, presbytery lay dele-
gate gave a report about the Huron
Perth Presbytery Meeting which
was held at Brucefield last Tues-
day.

to start action regarding the future
of the rural churches in this area.
This is a followup to the meeting
which was held last November and
was well attended by the surround-
