February 16 at the home of Bev Prout. The members of the club`, voted to pick the name and cover page for the front of the member's books. The club is entitled the Ex- ploring Extravaganzas. Later some members learned how to hem on a piece of fabric while other made pudding. When they were done the groups switched. One group finished hemming and the other group made an egg 'n' muffin. Questions surround- ing agriculture and the affect on the environment we many. What are me, environmental liability con- cerns? What does society want farmers to do with their farms? What is more important - wetlands or farmlands? What do the chang- es in the tree bylaws wears to farm- ers? What is the future of pesticide use? And more importantly. fann- ers arc asking how can they deal with these pressures. • Centralia College is hosting a one day forum focusing on several of these issues on Thursday, March 11, 10 arm. to 3:30 p.11. BRINSLBY - The Brinsley 4-H ;club field,:their organizational :meeting onTebruary2,.at 7.pan.at the Brinsley United Church. The meting opened with one of the leaders Kristen Thompson:giv- ing everyone a word scramble. Af- ter this, leader Carol Amos intro- duced Julie Jones as the youth Ander for the club. Jones then lead :ire 4-H pledge. The group then in- 'roduced themselves to each other, giving name, school and grade. Two new leaders have joined the :1:1ub, Marilyn Morley and Marcia :Trevithick. 'The books foi the club, Maple Syrup, were then distributed. Thompson then gave us the an- swers to the word scramble and Amber business began. 1t was decided that for the next aineeting we should all bring a • name and picture for the club and to decide on a colour for the duo - tangs. Following the business was the :election of the club's executive. Jacqueline Comelissen was voted .ident and Lauren Webster was voted vice-president. The club members decided to have a rotating secretary. For the organization meeting, Sharon Amos. Meeting one, Giselle Van- neste. Meeting two, Lindsay Mcln- roy. Meeting three, Angela Lewis. Meeting four, Samantha Cornelis - sen. Meeting five; Erin Lee. Meet- ing six, Crystal Lee. Shannon Mor- ley was elected treasurer. The leaders asked all to bring a sample of bark or twig from the tree that gives sap and to have the name of the tree for the next meet- ing. The club then completed pages 5 and 6 in their books. Followed by our discussion on the compulsory u ip to the sugar bush. The meeting was followed by Maple pop oni prepaied by Carol Amos.
