"The Ride Safe, Ride Sober Snowmobile Safety Campaign has our government's full support", Coppen said on behalf of Minister Swarbriok. "Alresady this season, 25 people have lost their lives in Ontario. These tragedies could have been avoided. If we all do our part, I know that some day at the end of the winter season, we'll be able to say that no one died in a snowmobiling accident in Ontario. That is our goal." Wendel Clark agreed the mes- sages arising from the campaign appear tote getting through. "'The snowmobile safety contest symbolizes the goals of the Ride Safe, Ride Sober" campaign", Clark said. "People are reminded to think about safety first. We hope this attitude soon becomes second nature for all snowmnobllers." The main messages of this cam- paign include "Ride Safe, Ride So- ber", pay attention, don't speed, stick to groomed trails, avoid trav- elling on lakes if at all possible, follow the rules of the trail, carry an emergency tit, wear reflective clothing and an approved safety helmet.
