Everybody seems to like replay and I gotta admit that a few years hack, the CALGARY FLAMES would've been in the STANLEY CUP finals, if NIEUWENDYK'S goal counts in overtime. On the replay, it was there in the net. It wasn't until next year that they put in the replay. But you know. if I was a visiting coach, I would won- der who was in charge of the replay. Is he from the city? Is he asso- ciated with the home team in any way etc., etc. The most ridiculous situation involved in the LEAFS and BLUES. A replay guy stopped the game and awarded a goal to ST. LOUIS. When asked how he know it was a goal (no TV that night and hence no replay available) he said he was looking through his binoculars. Is this crazy or what? No wonder PAT BURNS and the LEAFS have no faith in replay. Besides this joke, they had eleven straight replays go against them, **vet********************* Isn't it strange to see the left wing socialist bleeding hearts come out to rip the CBC for apologizing about the one sided view of the war. Aren't we wonderful people? If it's CANADIAN, it can't be good: By the way the NATIONAL FILM BOARD kept selling it on video. But... let a film come out that mildly criticizes QUEBEC and look out. I think ROBERT FULFORD, a writer for the GLOBE AND MAIL said it best. "The National Film Board doesn't fear FRENCH CANADIAN NATIONALISTS itself. Many PRO - SEPARATIST films in French carry a W.F.B. logo. But if there is a chance that even mild criticism of separatists may creep in the film, anxious frowns appear on executive brows." The unwritten rule seems to be "No film issued by the board must ever upset a separatist professor or both an editori- al writer on LE DEVOIR. The Legion peewees who are. undefeated in all six of their post -season contests, will go up against Dresden tonight at the South Huron Recreation Centro at 7:40 p.m. The second game of the six -point series goes Sunday in Dresden at 4 p.m. Generals tie 2-2 Meanwhile the RSD Midget Generals have already began their semi- finals against Wheatley. Saturday night in Exeter, the Generals battled their opponents to a 2-2 overtime tie. Following a scoreless first period, Wheatley's Jason Cornies connected at the ten-minute mark of the second frame. In the third, Mark Glavin teamed with Derek Beckeu to even the count. In overtime, Wheatley's Keith Bradley scored but Exeter captain Steve Farquhar connected from Mau Godbolt and Gavin Snell. The series con- tinues Saturday in Exeter at 6 p.m. Goalie Darren Kints played well in the opener and along with Farquhar and Glavin, were named the top stars of the game by the Generals' coach- ing staff. Broncos advance Trailing 2-0 early in the first period, the Exeter Atom Broncos bounced back to beat Lambeth 5-3 last Tuesday night to win that series. Exeter rallied for four straight goals to make it 4-2 but Lambeth pulled their goalie late in the game and made it 4-3 with only 1:31 left to play. . Scott Keys led the Exeter attack with two goals, including an empty net ter while Chad Monteith; Jason Grenier and Peter Fragiskatos each had a goal and an assist. • Mohawks ready for M,dcats Continued from page 13 Ingersoll B's (see below), Exeter dressed just 11 skaters. "We're healthy but it's a matter of getting everyone out," said Reving- • ton. It's been a long, long time since the Mohawks had a practice. Centre Scott Pfaff missed the en- tire four games against the B's, but other than him, the Mohawks are without jfl)uries. Once again veteran -rightwinger Joe Scherer, the league's leading scorer during the regular season with 74 points, will be looked upon to carry the bulk of the offence. It should be a real interesting matchup t)etween Scherer and Mudcats' centre Glen Czepek. The Dunnville forward who, along with Scherer made the first all-star team this year, was second behind the Mohawks' sniper in league scoring with 63 points. So far in the playoffs, veteran Gord Brooks has played very well with six goals and as many assists. He could be a big offensive weapon for the Mohawks. Mohawks 10. B's 3 As expected, the Mohawks swept Ingersoll in four games straight in the opening round of playoffs. Wednesday night they travelled to Ingersoll and came up with a big 10-3 win- Gord Brooks ...12 playoff points The Mohawks scored four times in the opening period as Dale Gib- bon, Richard Hawkins, Brooks and Jeff Shipley with a shorthanded tal- ly connected. Greg Snyder with his first or three started things off in the sec- ond frame and Scherer . netted his fifth of the playoffs. In the third,' Hawkins, Snyder with two and Scherer scored. for Exeter. While Hunter went all the way between the pipes for the winners, Ingersoll switched goalies in the first period.
