World Day of Prayer planned
EXETER - Women from Guate-
mala invite Christians around the
world to unite with them for
World Day of Prayer services on
March 5, to pray that all people
will be used by God as instruments
of healing.
The service has been prepared
by women whose peoples have
lived in cooperation, not competi-
tion, with the earth. Their country
is exhausted by immense social
problems and sin but these women
still ask, in this U.N. Year for the
World's Indigenous People, "What
does it mean to be the people of
God and instruments of healing?"
The voices of seven Guatemalan
women woven through the order
of worship give powerful testimo-
ny through scripture readings,
poetry and song to their love for
and commitment to their suffering
nation. Canadians are invited to
join in solidarity with Guatemala
as people worldwide pray for con-
nection with the refugees, home-
less, drug abusers and people with
AIDS in their midst.
World Day of Prayer is a global, .

each year, people in over 170 coun-

are translated into a multitude of
languages and dialects.
In Canada, the World Day of
Prayer is sponsored by the Wom-
en's Inter -Church Council of Cana-
da, a national council with repre-
sentatives from 11 denominations.
Local services are organized by ec-
umenical committees in more than
2,000 communities across Canada,
with each church taking a turn to
host the annual service. The offer-
ings from the services are used to
provide study and worship resourc-
es; to cover costs of•printing and
distributing the services, and to
support ecumenical projects in
Canada and abroad.
The service in this area will be
held at 2 p.m. at Exeter United
Church, Grand Bend United
Church and at Hensall United
Church on Friday, Manch 5.

Some timed -release tablets work by mixing the drug In
a waxy substance. The drug is released by gradually
leaching the drug from the wax base by body fluids.
Taking the tablet with hot liquids might speed up this release leading to
drug side effects. So take your tablets with a big glass of cool water.
Baths are better for dry skin than showers. Baths give the skin a chance
to "rehydrate", that is replenish its water content. Applying a good mois-
turizing cream after the bath will enhance the process and get rid of
that dryness.
Food for thought: The average North American consumes about 40 tons
of food in a lifetime) This does vary a few tons on either side due to vari-
ations in body size and degree of activity.
To minimize the swelling from a sprain, use the R.I.C.E. approach: Best
the injury, apply ice for 20 minutes at a time for a couple days; gom
pression of the sprain site; Elevate the injury above level of the heart.
Alcohol is a drug and can cause serious side effects when mixed with
certain prescription and nonprescription drugs. Our pharmacist will alert
you to potential problems.
