gold medals in Port Stanley
ZURICH - Members of the Zurich Figure Skating
Club have reason to be proud as they did very well at
the recent H.O.M.E. competition in Port Stanley. Nine-
teen figure skating clubs from Huron, Oxford, Middles-
ex and Elgin counties participated with 513 skaters reg-
istered in recreational and competitive categories.
First place winners were Shelley Miller in pre -
juvenile "A" and Crystal Russell in preliminary "A".
Silver medal .winners were Elyshia Denomme, juvenile
"A"; Sarah -Rae Lovie, provincial preliminary freesk-
ate; Julie Semple, juvenile "A"; and Krista Schilbe, pro-
vincial junior silver ladies figures and overall. Bronze
finishes went to Marcia -Lee Denomme, eanfigureskate
"A"; Sarah -Rae Lovie, provincial preliminary ladies
overall; and Krista Schilbe, provincial junior silver la-
dies freeskate.
Megan Gingerich captured a seventh place finish in
canfigureskate "A"; Jeffrey Miller placed seventh for
canfigureskate "B"; Melissa Timmerman placed fifth
in pre -juvenile "A"; Jessica Verhoog finished eighth in
canfigureskate "B"; and Sarah -Rae Lovie finished fifth
in the provincial preliminary ladies figures.

EXETER - The R.E. Pooley
Branch has been very active during
the past two weeks, there was a
sports night on January 30 with 68
members and guests taking part.
Also a team was entered in the
Grand Bend Winter CarniVal sno-
pitch. Upcoming will be snow -golf
at Oakwood.
The Exeter Legion, at the last
meeting approved several
ons to local organizations to-
g over $3,000. -The groups
were Town and Country, Home-
makers, Adult Day Centre, Exeter
`Area Fire Dept., Huron County
Safe Homes, South Huron District
High School and South Huron Um-
pires Association.
Also at the general meeting, sev-
eral new associate members were
initiated into the Legion. Many of
these were former fraternal mem-
bers who have taken advantage of
the grandparent clause, which came
into effect October, 1992. Provin-
cial service officer, Mel Harper
will be at the Branch on Wednes-
day, February 10. Contact John
Gunness for an appointment.

marked on members' calendars are:
Wed. March 3 - a minor hockey
Legion appreciation night, free ad-
mission to Legion and L.A. mem-
bers, Sunday, March 13 is the
Zone Convention at the RipleyLe-
gion and Saturday, March 20 is
Plant Day; during the meat draws
plants will be given away.
