Whether the heart is attacked or the brain (stroke), the causes are most often the same. When the vessels carrying blood to your heart or brain become too restricted (atherosclerosis) you can suffer a heart attack or a stroke. Or when a • blood clotlodges in an artery and interferes with the blood supply to either heart or brain, you can suffer a heart attack or stroke. And either can strike in the prime of life, killing or paralysing in a matter of minutes. Even though our research has made tremendous progress over the years and vastly reduced the incidence of -heart disease and stroke, we still have a lot of work to do: heart disease and stroke are still Canada's major health problem. The Heart andStroke Foundat na - Ontario dollar and all the good liAsebilits. We take great care with your donation arid allocate it very efficiently. Oyer 237 research teams throughout he province are funded by the Foundation. Every medical school and major hospital in Ontario receives support for research.
