nets four
in final
DORCHESTER - Maggie Ste-
ciuk scored four goals to lead Exet-
er Godbolt Insurance novices to a
7-2 win and the gold medal at the
Dorchester. Ringettc Tournament
here on Sunday.
Krista Dayman, Kelly Miners
and Jessica Davies also scored for
Exeter while Kerri Fulton added an
assist in the game which saw all
players put forth an excellent ef-
fon.
Exeter opened the tournamentbn.

four goals and Miners had the oth-
er. Kelli Fulton had a strong game
in net.
On Saturday, Stacey Snow and
Miners each had a pair of goals in
an 8-3 win over host Dorchester.

Steciuk scored six times in an 8-3
win over London in a game which
saw Davies and Robin Etherington
play well. Davies had two goals
while Preszcator and Miners each
had three assists.

EXETER - Despite dominating the play early, the Exeter Rusty
Blades failed in their bid to win the Draft division of the 10th Annual
Exeter Molting Hawks Oldtimers Hockey Tournament.
Sunday aftembon at the South=Huron—Recreation Centre, the London
Road Apples beat the the Rusty Blades 4-1 at the three division 12 -
team annual tournament.
Exeter had a couple of good chances to score early but London goal-
ie Dave Flemington came up big.
Paul Flood gave the Road Apples a 1-0 lead when he caught Rusty
Blades goalie Bob Oke out of position. Peter Varga and Ben Donald-
son also scored for the winners.
Teams played a pair of 20 -minute periods in the tournament which
began Friday night and concluded with three final games on Sunday
afternoon.
In the second period otthe Draft final, Doug Geoffrey pounced on a
rebound for the lone Exeter goal. Jim Jean and Bev Kinsman assisted.
The Rusty Blades had a good chance to pull closer when Morley Obre
had a couple of good .shots which were snagged by Flemington's
glove.
Bacardi Division
Dennis Fischer netted the hat trick as Mitchell beat Clinton 9-3 to
win the Bacardi division final. Rick Fifield and Dave Steffen each
scored twice for the winners with singles to Rob Steffen and Philip
Chessell. Greg Bums, Brian Kennedy and Dave Banliff answered for
Clinton.
Lite Division
Ed Moley scored a pair in a close 4-3 win for Forest over Blyth. Bill
Fraser and Joe O'Donnell also scored for Forest while Wayne Mac-
Dougall with two and Brian Black scored for Blyth.

as the tweens also won their divi-
sion at the Dorchester Tournament
in a 6-2 win over Forest. It was the
second gold medal of the season
for the Exeter tweens.
In the final, Melissa Hayter and
Meagan Ratz each scored two
goals and assisted on another while
Sara Szabo and Carolyn Quinn also
scored. Sarah Hamilton and Becky
Wuerth also assisted.
Kelly Regicr, Hayter and Szabo
all had two goals each in a 11-2
win over St. Marys in preliminary
action. Hamilton and Ratz had a
goal and two assists each while
Wuerth. Quinn and Sarah Moswjn-
john also scored.
In an earlier game. Exeter slipped
by Forest 7-6 as Mosurinjohn had
five goals with one each from Ite-
gier and Hamilton. Jayne B n-
tyne and Presiee Mayer had assists.
Exeter had little trouble with
Dorchester. winning 10.1 thanks to
four goals by Quinn. Hayter had
three, Regier had two goals and
Raiz also connected.

Friday m New Hamburg, the
Vets beat the host Spirit 5-3 to in-
crease their Niagara League west
division record -to 26-2-5 which is
13 points ahead of second place

put Hawks in fourth
ALVINSTON - The Exeter
Hawks fumed what could have
proven to be a difficult situation
into a chance to jump up in the
OHA Junior Development
League's west division standings.
They played four games in five
days, collecting a pair of wins and
a tie while dropping a game to the
Mitchell Hawks by only one goal.
With the five point week, Exeter
moved intd fourth place, one point
behind the Alvirtston Flyers and
one up on the Lambeth Lancers.
Sunday in Alvinston, Kurt Ropp
had two goals and an assists to
pace the Hawks to a 6-6 tie. Todd
McCann netted a pair with singles
to Ray Cousineau and Shayne Rob-
inson. Dan Rvan had three assists.

Saturday night in Parkhill, the
Hawks poured in six third period
goals to down North Middlesex.
Ropp had a big game as he netted
two goals and added three assists.
Cousineau and Andrew Barton had
two each with singles off the sticks
of Todd McCann and Ryan.

scored for the Stars who saw their
record dip to 7-25. i

Goalie Clint McCann recorded
the shutout Saturday night for the
Hawks who led 4-0 after two peri-
ods of play. Ryan had three goals
and an assist while Cousineau and
flyers top Irish again
ALVINSTON - The Lucan Irish suffered just their third loss of the sea-
son Friday night but it was the second time they have fallen to the Alvins-
ton Flyers.
Lucan struggled all night and were beaten 7-3 by the Flyers. The Irish
remain in first place in the-OHA Junior Development west division at 26-
3-2.
"We didn't play well. We played five minutes and got three goals," said
Lucan manager Ken Freeman.
Defenseman Craig Brown netted a pair of goals for the visitors with the
other from Greg DePrest.
Lucan will be without the services of captain Andy Ross and defense -
man Ed VanKerkoerle when they travel to Parkhill on Saturday and host
Mitchell on Sunday in a 2:15 start.
Both received two game suspensions in the game against Alvinston. In
the third period, Irish goalie Eoin McInerney got in a scuffle and VanKer-
koerle ended up getting his suspension for two fights in the same stoppage
of play. Ross was ejected for abusive language to the official.

Jason Wilson, Steve Moore and DePrest each had a goal and an assist in
Wednesday night's win over the Lancers. Also scoring were. VanKerkoerle
and Chris Chatcr with an empty nester.
"We played better than we had in the last four or five games," said Irish
coach Ken Needham.
Ropp both had a goal and two as-
sists. Barton also scored for the vis-
iting Hawks.

In the battle of the Hawks Friday
night, it was host Mitchell winning
a close 4-3 decision. Mitchell led
2-1 at the end of the, fust period
and 3-2 after 40 minutes.
Sean McCann had two for Exeter
with brother Todd scoring the other
goal and also adding an assist.
