Christmas is over for another year. is there a house any-
where nearby in which someone didn't receive either musical
socks or underwear? The week has been busy, some people
had family to visit or had visitors coming to them; some peo-
ple have already taken down their Christmas decorations;
those of you who bought living trees this year have, I'm sure,
taken them back outside and planted them in the carefully
pre -prepared holes; and now the final preparations arc being
made for all those gala New Year's Eve celebrations.
And the one thing that goes along with New Year's is the
resolution that seemingly must be made. I'm convinced that each year millions of people dutifully
Vow either to stop smoking, exercise morn keep a diary, diet, work harder or stick closer to the
budget and each year almost that same number of millions of people ate disappointed in them-
selves when the resolve to accomplish these things disappears, if not the next morning then soon
after. I have done the same thing and i have resolved this year not to make any resolutions, unless
they are less stringent ones such as smiling more or enjoying the world around mc, rather than
rushing through it.
• 1 wish you all a Happy New Year, and hope that whatever you resolve to do in 1993, you do it to
